I need advise from locals in Singapore. How is the pricing of Tumi in Singapore compared to the U.S.?
I live in Denmark and it is difficult to source Tumi here...
Thx!
Everything in Singapore is more expensive than elsewhere. I find all branded goods to be more expensive than in the US/ Europe/ Hong Kong.

Overall, I have found the best prices on Tumi to be in Hong Kong.
Lane Crawford usually carry some interesting models (check out their store at IFC for example).
The savings is about 10-20% compared to other places to buy- so obviously not worth the trip to Hong Kong however if you are there anyway it is worth some shopping.

Wow, I thought that Singapore was supposed to have competitive pricing, but thanks for the HK tip. I am in Singapore during their "Grand Sale" guess that
HK is still cheaper???
Any other tips in regards to buying Tumi at better prices than in Europe?

There are online sales sometimes for Tumi on gilt.com, ruelala.com
Also in the USA, there are tumi factory outlet stores.
Singapore is expensive for shopping nowadays.

Yes. Tumi is cheapest in the USA unless of course you can get huge (private) discounts at Lane Crawford in HK !
IMHO, Tumi is overpriced and overrated.
You do know the bags are all made in Thailand, don't you?
IMO, I find Rimowa to be better.

My experience has been that the Tumis, Rimowas, etc tend to be much more expensive in Singapore then the US, EU or HK. I suspect that it has something to do with a limited market in country. In the best of cases, the # of units that can be sold in Singapore is quite small compared to what would happen say at the Tumi outlet in the US.

In the USA Tumi can be the cheapest, however often with models that are not very attractive (meaning I don't want to buy).
I am not sure if it is overpriced/overrated- I fly every week and even with a few "adventurous" stories thrown in my luggage seems to hold up quite well.
If the bags are made in Thailand- good! Thailand has some of the best manufacturing capabilities in Asia now- particularly for injection, small metal parts (cold/progressive stamping), and working on fabrics (interiors). Most Paul Smith is made in Thailand now also for example (not just the luggage).
Rimowa I find to be very well made, however extremely ugly to look at. I just can't do it. Ms. Travelsig will make sure, as everytime I wander towards it she yells out "Do you want to look like a middle age German engineer?". Nothing wrong with German engineers (many who are my friends), just saying....

You can certainly say that again.
I recently wanted to get my lady one of those ceramic watches made by Skagen. The model I had in mind costs the equivalent of over $370 here in Singapore.
On Amazon I was able to purchase the exact same watch for $165, and that already INCLUDES the extra cost of fast delivery via international courier.
Huge difference.

With the exchange rate also climbing all the time, doesn't help for foreigners who land up in SIN.

I just went to the Tumi store at Raffles City. The prices seemed in line with Europe, which is of course more than America.
However I also shopped at the Geox there and their prices seemed cheaper than the US and quite a bit cheaper than Europe. Not even a sale going on!
