Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy refurb out of Gatwick

Hi there,

does anyone know when the premium economy refurbishment on Virgin Atlantic flights out of Gatwick will be complete? I am flying to Antigua in June and cannot prebook seats as a refurb is currently underway. VA won't give me any detailed information on this. They say I will be able to book seats only on check in which is 24 hours prior to the flight which I find unbelievable.

You've somehow posted in the Talk Board forum. They don't have anything to do with Virgin Atlantic (well, unless you want to request them to close down the Virgin Atlantic forum--they could vote on that).

The refurbishment won't be finished by June so unfortunately seat selection at T-24 is the only option at the moment.

Why do you think it is unbelievable? What detailed information do you think they are not telling you?

VS have been open about this restriction on not being able to pre-request PE seats and it has been on their website for months.

Think of it like the old days- when you only found out what seats you were sat in when you checked in - very retro !

Cross your fingers and hope you get a refurbed plane, two or more of the seven LGW 747s should be done by then. Note, VS won't know which aircraft is scheduled for which route at this stage, and since the seat plans are changing quite a lot it's really not unbelievable that VS has been transparent about this and to save disappoint (and chaos) restricted seat requests to T-24.

Also note, it's that VS won't give you detailed information, they do not know which plane will be rostered.

Thanks for the replies. I take your points. It's just when travelling with familiy it's piece of mind to know we will be sat together for a long haul flight. Does anyone know what the new configuration of Premium Economy will be? The same as the existing or different?

As VS have said themselves the configration is totally different which is why they have stoped the pre-requesting of seats. If it was the same row and seat numbers etc they wouldn't have restricted requests.

VS will make efforts to seat families together (especially those with young children) so stop worrying. Rember to do OLCI at T-24 to get your seats.
