National - How quickly is status updated?

When you achieve Exec or Exec Elite, how quickly does the website (and National's systems generally, I guess) update that new status? Is it essentially instantaneous after your 12th / 24th rental, or is there some delay? I assume obviously the new card and mailing will take some time (but I've never actually had to show the card before in making any rental), but that's not what I'm concerned about.

I'd like to know because of some important rentals shortly after the rental in which I believe I'd achieve the status and want to understand whether the system and the checkout folk will recognize my new status so I can grab a vehicle from the EE aisle again.

I matched in via Hertz Five Star and after submitting my request the status appeared a couple hours later.

The answer was a little unclear to me. I actually got my Emerald Exec card before the rental where I should have hit the limit, but then I had to show it at the exit a few days later in order to justify taking something from ES, so maybe the system didn't have it updated yet. If you can get the card, then apparently that trumps whatever's in the system.

To close this thread out (in case anyone is interested): I returned my 12th rental of the year this morning and when I logged onto National online later in the morning, I was back to Executive (from plain old Emerald Club) through Feb2014. So, immediate is that answer, I believe.

I have a question about the other side of an upgrade in a downgrade. My comapny's new contract with National last year got us comp exec status. I used it a couple times but not enough to keep the status. It says that my status expired on 2/28, but I am still Exec.

Is there a delay on the downgrade?

My exec status (for which I did not requalify from 2011 activity) disappeared on 2/29/12 (as scheduled).
