I was status matched (from FB Platinum) to A-Club Platinum last year and was just informed by A-Club that my status has reverted to "Classic" after one year.
During this year, I stayed at some Accor properties (only Ibis, Mercure and Novotel), and apart from the extra points, there was not a single instance of elite recognition during the entire year, neither in terms of acknowledgement by the check-in desk agent nor in terms of tangible benefits (upgrades etc.). Even after showing the physical Platinum card, the only reaction of the check-in desk was to check the reservation and hand back the card with the words "we already have your account on file".
Compared to the other hotel loyalty programmes that I know, this is really nothing. I know from other reviews here on flyertalk that elite recognition seems to work at Pullman and Sofitel, but for someone mostly staying in Mercure and Novotel properties, this is a useless programme.
I guess this is exactly what a status match is for: to see whether a programme that you haven't been using before is worth the effort. I tried it and realized: for me, it's not. (I am just a bit puzzled by the complete lack of effort on Accor's side to try and convince me otherwise...)
