hi can anybody help me please with what time i can expect the checkin desk to open at BKK for Sri lankan airlines. I'm trying to book a few hours at the transit hotel prior to our flight and they are telling me that checkin doesnt open until 2 hours before the flight.

Wow, for confusion this takes the cake.
It's typical for an airline to open up checkin 2-3 hours prior to the flight and you seem to have the answer already.

Sorry if you are confused by my question!
I'll explain why I'm asking, at LHR when we checked in it was 4 hours prior to the flight, my ticket says that recommended check in time is 3 hours before the flight, the 2 hours before hand info only came via the transit hotel staff, which as I'm sure you will know if you are a frequent traveller cant always be relied on as correct info, hence my question!
So back to the original question - if anybody with experience of flying out of BKK to LHR on Sri lankan airlines could confirm the normal opening time for check in it would be extremely helpful - Thanks

Why don't you try calling the airline?

Because I'm on holiday & don't want to waste time & money to sit on hold forever more to an airline.
It was a very simple question & I just wondered if anybody could give me an answer from their experience!

So you're looking to check in and then head to Louis Tavern for sleep? Do I understand this correctly?

We are coming in on a domestic flight from southern Thailand & I wanted a room somewhere for 4 - 5 hour so I can shower the children & let them have a nap prior to our international departure. But if we can only check in 2 hours before flight then I'll just book a day room at the Novotel instead.

If you're coming in from HDY, KBV, HKT or USM and it's on TG I'd recommend contacting TG and seeing if they have an interline agreement with Sri Lankan. If so you can go through immigration at that airport and then proceed to the lounge upon arrival in BKK.
Although the cost of the room in the Louis Tavern will be in the same ballpark as the Novotel once you factor in the cost for the additional people and bathroom.

According to this there should be an interline possibility.

If they will interline your bag, and they should as UL is on the list above, then you'll go through immigration in HKT and be able to access the international departure area once you go through transit security.
