What is the go with J pricing SYD DPS.
I did a status match last year do thought I would try the DJ product.
Priced at $2900 approx while GA is $2600, and if you'd stay is only 14 days a current sale price of $1600.

I get that DJ is in transition and the 737 800 J product still requires some work, replace with A330 type product.

I was happy to give it a go but not at more than the GA charge for what has to be a lesser product.

Would have been nice to retain silver but that's life.

DJ have not booked yet so maybe have a look at your pricing.

I think you've answered your own question re the pricing.
Garuda, though reports of their new J product have been favorable still have a shocking reputation in the industry, which would put many people (myself included) from ever flying them.
Yes they are offering very cheap J fares across various destinations in the hope that people will book, try and like the product and hopefully gain back a bit of trust with travellers.

I would personally rather pay the extra $1000 to fly Virgin even though some of the aircrafts are yet to be upgraded.

If you really want to retain Silver why don't you do a J trip to another destination or you could have done the double status credits promotion.

Well I hear what you say about Garuda but have you flown them?
Since Ansett left the scene I have flown GA and with up to three trips a year never had a bad flight.
I actually find GA J to be more comfortable and has better cabin service than EK. Big call but done both so I can compare.

Nope never flown them and as I said..never would...
Just like I'd never fly some of the China or Taiwanese airlines...personally my own opinion
If you like GA so much...then book with them again..however they have no partner airlines at this point in time...so if status really matters with you go with Virgin to help you retain it.
There are offers out there that come and go which could help you achieve status with Virgin even at Silver level with a bit of planning.

The issues on the table are:

Price
Comfort
In flight service
Retain status

Was prepared to go with lesser comfort and lesser in flight service for a cheaper (substantially) fare and either way retain status on one of the other.

If DJ does not change the revenue the choice with be GA, they are joining Skyteam so status and banked miles are still a bonus
