It is astounding to me that in 2012 a major rental car agency would add a car without cruise control. I think cruise is even listed as an ECAR amenity on National's website but that may be wrong. As always a great review. Although I'm surprised you went with this as a choice - was National wiped out when you got there? The Sonic has generated a lot of buzz so I can understand wanting to try it. The Kia Rio? I wouldn't even consider that in the same breath or take my chances in a tin can like that.

I'm always willing to drive any car I haven't previously rented.:)
The lot was pretty full, but I spotted the Rio in the back.
I'm willing to forgive the lack of cruise control on a subcompact, because I imagine that most people drive an ECAR around town for errands and don't do much highway travel.
