Africa - 5 nights to split between Botswana and Victoria Falls

I am going to South Africa for the second time in August and this time I'd like to spend some time to see Victoria Falls and the Chobe National Park. I initially wanted to spend all 5 nights in the Victoria Falls area (still not sure if it's better to stay on the Zambian or Zimbabwe side) and only do a day trip to see Chobe but now I'm thinking of spending 2 nights in Kasane to spend a little bit more time in the park. Would 2 nights in Kasane and 3 nights in Vic Falls be a good idea or should I spend more/less time in these places?

Thanks!

What are you planning to do in Victoria Falls? If you only want to look at the falls themselves, one day will suffice. If you want to go bungee jumping, white water rafting, (booze) cruising or canoeing on the Zambezi, game viewing in the Zambezi National Park (wrongly ignored by the vast majority of visitors) or elephant-back riding, you will need more time.

I certainly recommend at least one night in Chobe. A day trip will mean visiting the park in the heat of the day, not the best time for game viewing.

Rather stay at a lodge in the park proper, that we you get a head start on the game drives compared to the crowds arriving from Kasane.

If you go on a boat cruise on the Chobe River, I suggest doing it in the morning, when the river is much quieter than in the afternoons, when all the booze cruises go out.

Are the game drives or walking safaris offered on day trips from Livingstone, Zambia any good?

Fantastic info here and the Krueger post.

Thanks.....saved for future use as we still have to do Africa, Australia and China.
