All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - Upgrades on day of departure/ Diamond Upgrades

Sounds like ANA will offer a few new perks: upgrades to intl. ANA business class can now be requested on the day of departure. Upgradeable tickets issued in Japan now include booking classes Y,E,B,M,U similar to those issued in Europe.

For DIAs, other economy booking classes (non-upgradeable up until now) can now be upgraded to Business for double the usual upgrade points.
Not a bad development in my opinion, while our friends at JAL are terminating the upgrade point system altogether....

Yep, this was announced back in November. Mind you, Ecowari 7 (U class) fares ex-Japan are ridiculously expensive (189,400 JPY plus taxes/fees/YQ to IAD), so the new upgradability is not all that useful for folks who buy advance fares.
