In the planning stages of our 7-9 day family vacation from NY. We're looking to burn most of our gold passport points(100,000), 2 free nights in a suite (c/c offer) and also willing to pay for a some nights and use a suite upgrade. My kids (14&15) and I think Hawaii would be a good choice but my wife is thinking Italy or Paris.
In August I can book Hyatt Maui around 200's per day and use suite upgrade. Then stay at Hyatt Kauai with my free suites awards and my points.

Since it's 4 of us would like to stay in suites for the space. If I use suite award
at Kauai then use points for additional nights do they let you stay in suite for the entire stay?

Milan and Paris look amazing but there's no other Hyatt's close to them.Trying to stay with Hyatt's to use our suite awards.

I think there have been some reports of being able to stay in a suite when using a combination of paid and award nights. However, there are probably many factors that go into that and it's YMMV.

Since you're talking about Hawaii in the summer, I'd guess the chances are slim.

As far as I can see, Hyatt has only one property in Italy - and it is in Milan.

Exactly, That's why I'm thinking Hawaii is a better option. Italy would be too costly if I had to pay for breakfast and suite upgrades at another hotel chain.

Perhaps I misread your post but there are at least two Hyatts in Paris. We stayed at the Vendome last year in a suite. The couch opens a full/queen size bed and there is also a king bed.

I think you got lucky. We just stayed at the Vendome with a family of 4 and had to book 2 rooms, including our suite. The standard suite upgrade (Park Suite) has a loveseat in the sitting area of the room (no room divider) that does not open into a sofa bed.

Because you will need 2 rooms for most hotels in Europe, your points will go much farther in Hawaii. You can usually fit 4 in a standard room and the nights you can upgrade to a suite make it that much nicer.
