Edit, new details: Extended promotion through May 2nd, 2012 -- register through the same link from March 29th - May 2nd for flights booked from March 1st and May 2nd 2012.
Not bad -- not sure how the prices look nowadays though.

I am guessing you have to book flights after you register to get credit. I hope not though because I am flying tomorrow and Sunday and it would be nice to get the credit.

You have to register before booking and they have to be booked and flown in March.
I wonder if these credits count toward A+ status...if they do, you could get A+ Status very quickly.

Do you guys know whether this is compatible with the Birthday Offer?
(Extra @+ rewards for flight booked during the month of the birthday).
This would make an interesting double dipping

Nope. Elite status is based on paid flights taken, not credits earned.

1) This tells me FL must not be doing well at all.
2) WN could turn around tomorrow and say that A+ credits transfer to WN points at some horrible conversion rate and these credits would be worth nothing. Do people really want to invest their flights in a dying program?

By saying you have to register and book it basically makes it useless for the first half of the month because of how crazy high prices are less than 2 weeks out.

By this point in most recent years, I'd already taken 4-6 segments. I can't find anything close to affordable or historic precedent. They're not matching DL in several city pairs (though documenting that admittedly is difficult).
I assume low fare buckets fill up, so perhaps they're doing gangbuster business. Somehow, I doubt it.
If the scheme is fare increases so steep that AirTran's disappearing act is less lamented...it's not an astute business plan.

The alternative is usually Delta, especially for this promotion. I have been through several mergers and never seen the incoming programs treated badly. Why would this be different?

For leisure travel that's definately a factor. However for last minute business travellers most non-stops I checked for *tomorrow* FL was either the same as DL or lower. The few exceptions I found were typical leisure routes where flights are likely full.
And there wasn't a large difference between coach and BC on most. In many cases less than the T-24 upgrade cost.

I got in for one RT on this.
Wonder if I'll get an extra credit for birthday month, too.
It seems pretty likely that in the conversion of A+ to RR2.0, things will be similar to RR1.0->RR2.0. In other words, they'll stop issuing credits, but let us use RR2.0 points to buy credits up to a full award.

You are assuming that there will be some type of conversion.

That it is all ATL markets during the peak spring break period does make one wonder if ATL originating traffic is faltering. This is not the time of year to give away FF rewards to put butts in seats.
On the flip side, I suppose it could be an effort to get last-minute travelers to book them instead of the competition. AirTran's fares have (anecdotally) seemed much higher in general than they used to be. Perhaps this is their way of trying to get people who are biting the bullet and paying $700 for a round trip to chose them instead of Delta. Still, seems like the wrong time to do it because there were plenty of empty seats available for those $700 round trip fares in winter, but now a lot of planes are already full.

Edit: or maybe not -- no re-enrollment needed.

The fine print says re-enrollment is not necessary.
I still went in and re-registered anyway.

Wow...I wonder what's leading them to do this. For anyone interested in a FF credit run, ATL-MCO has plenty of $69 seats later in April.

It's really odd...encouraging people to fly FL does nothing to help ATL travelers become more familiar with WN.
I plan to take advantage of it, though.

And their email marketing department can't type - there was a typo in the apology for our typo email!
In our haste to share the news, we inadvertently listed the wrong end date this offer. Below is the corrected e-mail.

The terms and conditions do not explicitly say, but I'm guessing the intention of the promotion is not to include trips connecting in Atlanta.
Has anyone actually received the bonus? I flew BWI-ATL-BWI two weeks ago (and, yes, I booked my trip after registering) and have not yet received bonus credits for my trip. The terms do say to allow up to 3 weeks, so hopefully they will show up in the next week or so.

Yes, it takes a minumum of 3 weeks so dont plane on using your points right away. I flew on March 12th to Atlanta roundtrip and still have not received my quadruple points as I flew Business Class and validated with the Airlines that the points should be credited.
They said now it could take 4-6 Weeks depending on how backed up the system is.
They make you wait in-line even when your not flying. :)

So I'm new to the site, but not new to finding super low fares. I currently hold elite status through airtran and and fly roughly 175,000 miles a year (business and Liesure through multiple airlines). If you are into watching fares through airtran, they STILL offer deals up to 2 weeks before the flight date. I have officially flown Airtran for 11 roundtrips between STL and ATL and vis versa. Don't be scared to wait for a deal at $69 each way or $138 roundtrip between these cities. They are currently in the process of offering the initial fare at $151, then the fare at $258 then for some reason unknown on prcing schedules, all the fares fall down to $69 (usually the sale starts on a tuesday and ends on a thursday or friday morning). They say it only works for tuesday and wednesdays, but last week the fares dropped accross the board for everyday throughout the week. My advice to you, is to wait and watch..it can truly pay off if you are flying in between these cities.
WHY I LIKE AIRTRAN SO MUCH-
There customer service is terrible over the phone, so if you need something changed between your flights...do it IN the airport. They will not do anything for you over the phone, so skip the hassle.
I have changed 3 flights for free now and have even EXTENDED a layover until the next morning. (All before holding Elite status)
I once flew STL->tampa with a layover in ATL roundtrip and on my way home I decided to to see if i could stay with my girlfriend in Atlanta overnight. I simply asked the attendant if I could fly from Tampa to ATL which landed at 5:40 PM and extended my layover (in ATL) until 8:55 the next morning. I was able to pull this one off with NO change FEE and I didn't even have Elite status at the time. My advice to you: get your changes (if need be) done in the airport, they are much more likely to do something for you rather than over the phone.
Happy flying!
