Greetings.

I recently decided to use TK to make a quick trip to Del. I bought a Y+/Y combination for YYZ-IST-DEL. The booking process raised some Qs:

1. How do you enter a non-TK *A FF number. This trip will help me clear the *G threshold a little over halfway through so I m being extra careful ;)

2. Equipment changes- I doubt they ll happen on YYZ-IST legs - and if they do, I ll get screwed out of Y+, but what about IST-DEL? Ticket says A330-300, flight aware has tracked its last 10 flights as older 343s.

3. I m fine with 343s and 333s and 332s, but with some being older than others, what's the deal with IFE? Do the older 343s lack them? As loathe as I am to believe the reviewers, I thought I d check.

I ve heard good things about the YYZ-IST legs. How is the IST-DEL leg? Anyone have any experience with it? Really looking forward to Y+ in particular and TK in general.

1. Easiest is to enter your *A FFP at check-in, this way you make sure of the outcome.
2. I think there are zero chances for changing the plane for YYZ-IST. For IST-DEL I am not sure there is much difference between A333 and A343 in Y, both have IFE.

IST-DEL can be a pain if you want to sleep, as service might be slow and will leave you only with 2-3 hours of effective resting time.

Thanks.

Yeah I ll do it at check-in. Is the seat selection policy the same as others (24 hrs via online check-in?)

Not too worried about the DEL leg, since I should get enough sleep on the YYZ-IST leg. Doesn't hurt that the flight arrives in Delhi at 6pm EST. probably going to be wide awake for the entirety, hence the need for IFE (AVOD Preferrably).

IIRC you can call TK YYZ office during office hour to have seat assign in 30 days of departure.

OTOH, I found half of the time online seat selection doesn't work (or really confusing.. it leads you to print online BP and once you did that you can't go back to seat selection)

Seat selection opens at 90 days, did mine when booking online in December for LAX-IST-HKG in March. Ticket office also allows at 90 days. Can also call ticket office to add ff#.

77W to YYZ all around. TK seems to create extra effort on their North-American routes. Catering in J is really good. I haven't flown Y/Y+ but i would bet that in Y+ the catering is also good.

Word of advice though: Add your FFP in online check-in, never trust TK agents. check in seemed to be also very disorganized at YYZ when i was last there. Learned the hard way as usual when i was buying stamps for my envelope stuffed with boarding passes. BMI doesn't seem to accept online-retroclaims anymore.

Haven't flown Y+ either but word has it that the food is almost the same/same like in J.
Maybe no Champagne though. One can live with that I think.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I am really looking forward to it. Booked it on the spur of the moment, after seeing a good deal.

Let's take the "good FAs" down a notch. TK is great in many aspects, the skills of the FAs being probably the last on the list.

On my last flight I was in the toilet when they collected TK headsets from all pax, only to discover when I returned to my seat that my Bose noise-cancelling headphones were gone. At first they (it was 2 of them) said that they were TK headsets and moved on, and only when I stopped them and demanded that they search for a SILVER pair of headsets with a different brand name on them they stopped and started to search. When they found them - no apology, not a word form their side, they just handed my headsets to me and carried on with their task.

It's definitely a great Y+ product, where you can always find a free seat 1-2 days before travel, as they don't yet have demand for 63 Y+ pax on every flight.

Do all of TKs A330s and A340s have AVOD PTVs in Y?

I've been hearing about TK 340s to BKK without IFE. A 7hr DEL-IST leg without IFE might just bring an end to my newfound enthusiasm for TK.
