If you "like"
http://www.facebook.com/theb.hotels
you can book a (singular) room at any of the B Hotels for just 1,000yen inclusive.
You can book for two of you if you make two separate bookings each under a separate guest's name. The name on Facebook has to be the same name as the person checking in.
If there are two of you that means that you can stay for two nights at 500yen a night each.
And kids under 11 can stay free under the usual T&Cs for this hotel group: http://www.ishinhotels.com/en/child/index.html
The room allocated to me at the Roppongi branch was an 18m2 twin.

Wow. Great deal...but I don't see what the hotel can possibly get out of it to make such a promotion worth its while.

Wow. Great deal...but I don't see what the hotel can possibly get out of it to make such a promotion worth its while.
The Hoxton Hotel in London did (and probably does) similar promos and they really helped promote it.
In this case, someone looking to stay in Tokyo might just book the one (or two) nights and pay the very reasonable rates for extra nights here. Since booking agents like Utell or Expedia regularly give stay 4 or 5 nights get 1 free deals this sort of promotion does make the b chain stand out amongst its competitors.
Apart from what I'm doing here to promote it (and perhaps I'll sporadically recommend it in the future since I've yet to stay here) this hotel won't get any extra nights from me so I'm not an ideal guest. Its great for us as it gives us a small break from staying with MrLapLap's dad (and more importantly, gives him a break from us!). I suspect that, amongst English speaking guests, we'll be in the minority.

I have stayed at the :B:.......keep your expectations low. The Roppongi location is not nice at night due to the denizens that lurk in the area around the front entrance. Absolutely insist on a non-smoking room...:)

Thanks for the heads up!
I thought long and hard about whether we should attempt to stay here or Akasaka. The Roppongi location won out because it's within walking distance from otousan's and, even though the bathrooms here are older, they do have baths. Akasaka seems to be shower only.
Thanks for the tip about refusing a smoking room. We're booked into non-smoking rooms and having the toddler with us means I won't accept an alternative. Hopefully, she'll keep the riffraff in order and we're staying midweek (didn't fancy this spot for a weekend!)
If being close to South Azabu Juban wasn't so important to us, the Ochanomizu location would have been more of a draw. Direct access to the Yamanote line I've found helps keep costs down and I like the Ochanomizu/Kanda area.

I've stayed at the Akasaka property in the past. It's on a hilltop between Akasaka and Akasaka-Mitsuke. Rooms were pretty small but the interior was modern and fairly "fresh". The room I has was with a shower but no tub.
There was a complimentary espresso maker in the lobby. Breakfast was in the adjoining Italian restaurant and was passable but nothing more. The traditional style Japanese breakfast at the Denny's down the street was preferable.
That said, for ¥1000 I'd stay there again.

No problem, I stayed there when I flew in for a FT meet-up ;), all in all a fantasmorphical deal for Tokyo, saves you money for more important things, like 500 Yen donuts at TDL !:D
