Travel with Children - Business Class with 15 month old - Sit n Stroll, Cares or Car Seat?

Hi -- I am flying alone from LAX to JFK with my 15 month old. Flight is during his nap. We are in business class on a 762 (American). Should I use car seat, sit-n-stroll or Cares harness? We don't need a car seat on the other side.

So the 15 month old has his own seat?

We used a car seat a couple of times but now use the CARES harness. Latter is awesome due to its convenience but she took better naps in the carseat, esp. at the 15 month stage. So pick your poison.

Only use the Sit-n-Stroll if you already have one. A CARES harness is good if you don't need a car seat in New York (which btw, is smart in NYC).

Remember that CARES harnesses can be rented on Ebay or Craigslist, if you don't want to buy one. If you do, it'll probably be easy to resell (or save for future children and flights).

Double check that the CARES harness will fit on AA's 767 business class seats. "Pod" designs can't but you might be in luck.

When you say sit-and-stroll, do you mean that frame in which you pop in a car seat and then roll it around like a stroller? If so, as a Manhattanite who has flown with kids, I can tell you that is an awesome device for both the plane and Manhattan. It's great for taxis because you can put the kid in a car seat in the cab and just fold the frame up and stick it in the trunk. And the seat-plus-frame is very handy, too, for strolling through the airport (trust me, the last thing you want to do is carry the kid through security, check-in, etc).

I loved my SnS but there's a new product on the market which is getting good reviews. This is apparently a better car seat and you can use it with a stroller frame. Car seat techs love it and it's supposed to be easier to install than the SnS. The child can use it for longer so I'll plug it here;

Don't use the CARES harness. A 15 month old is not going to be able to sleep well in an airplane seat. If you have a Sit N Stroll, use that. If you don't, then don't spend the $200; just schlepp the car seat.
