So Thursday is the start of the 2012-2013 FPC benefit year.
As a renewed Platinum, I haven't received anything yet, or seen any information about program changes.
Has anyone else received their kit or seen or heard anything?

None.. My biggest curiousity is if FPC Platinum will receive once again Passions.
I noticed on the scheduled list of benefits, Passions Benefits are no longer listed, but for those early qualifying FPC Platinum lately were able to choose from last years certificates.

Or maybe Kingdom Holding is going to buy Red Roof Inn and merge the brands ending any Lifetimer's benefits.

The 4 additional benefits for Platinum members are now available for selection under the 'My Benefits' tab.
Looks pretty much the same. Can't remember if the chef's hat/apron and fairmont robe were available last year.

Looks like they extended all remaining unused certs (both Plat & Plat Passions certs) for an extra month thru 3/31/12. And as the above poster mentioned, if you click "Benefits", you can now pick 4 new 2012 Plat Passions choices!!! Most of the choices are the same, although there are a couple new choices such as a robe, or kid's robe, or a chef's hat & apron, or some music downloads, some new book selections, and the Willow Stream Spa treament seems to have been modified as the foot option is now a "deluxe executive foot grooming".
And in a positive note, my wife who never picked her Plat Passions last year, but managed to jump in and make 2011 choices when they came available again about a month ago.....................well she also has the option to choose 2012 Plat Passions now. So seems she very well may get 2 rounds of golf this year!!!!! Yay!!!!! Especially since she doesn't play golf so she will have to give them to her husband to use!!!!! :p

FWIW, here are the 2012 Plat Passions options (and T&Cs):
Members of Fairmont President’s Club who earned Platinum status during the 2011 member year will be given an opportunity to select four additional benefits on top of the core program benefits that they enjoy today. Members who achieve Platinum status mid-year will be given an opportunity to select their additional benefits in March 2013.
Members will have from March 1, 2012 through until May 31, 2012 to select their benefits. All benefit selections must be completed by May 31, 2012. After this time, benefit selections will be closed for the year.
There will be a limit of one item extended per benefit. For benefits with multiple options, Platinum Members will be required to select one item to receive.
Once benefits have been selected, they cannot be changed for any reason.
Items are subject to availability. Select sizing and colors available at time of selection may vary.
Benefits are subject to change without notice. In the event that items selected are damaged during shipping, the member will have up to 30 days from delivery date to make a claim. Where claims are honored, a replacement of the same item will be shipped. Where the same item is no longer available, a substitute will be provided. Members to contact Fairmont President’s Club Platinum Desk at GRC 1-866-940-8061 (U.S./Canada), 1-506-387-1839 (International), to inquire about a replacement.

Unless otherwise noted, the Platinum Member may transfer their benefit to immediate family, meaning: Parent, adult child, spouse (including common law) and siblings.
Delivery of selected benefits may take anywhere from six to eight weeks.

I didn't use 2 of my 2011 Passions:
A Meal
A Spa Treatment
2011 Passions are no longer listed in my certificate page. My 2 unused certs from 2011 are still showing (1 month bonus).
(I think the above two were canceled based on a hard printed date?)
I do like the Chef Hat and Robe Options! Cool Book Choices too.

That's odd. Maybe I just got extremely lucky, but all of the certs I didn't use last year (including Plat Passions certs) were extended until 3/31/2012, and are listed along with my new set of certs that expire 2/28/2013.

-Books: OnStage Offstage (Reviews explain it to be more of a coffee table picture book)
Food and Drink
-Hat and Apron (How can I resist!)
Leadership
-Books: Thinking Fast and Slow (Was a toss up, but O'Leary is a jerk, so no to his fluff)
Spa
-Robe (Always wanted this!)
Sports
-Unsure (Why no Whistler Ski Cert!, I don't need a magazine, I don't golf, last year I got the duffle) Any Ideas?
(So Fairmont has a multitude of Ski Destinations, all EXCEPT Whistler, get a giftcard, what gives?)
Most hard goods seem to have a value of $20-$30
The golf and spa offerings are worth a bit more if you can take advantage.
My 2011, Meal and Spa certs went unused :(

I´d already used my local food experience cert and hadn´t selected the spa cert, my round of golf and Fairmont Moments cert were automatically extended, but I doubt I´ll be able to use either cert in March.:( If you have an upcoming stay in March, I´d politely ask the Plat desk whether there´s anything they can do.

This morning at about 3AM EST I was able to snag an August Plaza booking with my free night. However my first choice (July) wasn't available, and the agent said July and Septemeber were already capped, but August and October still had some availability. Assuming there are only 10 award rooms per night at each of these hotels, seems plenty of other Plats called this morning to try to book the Plaza right at the opening of our new Plat certs.
BTW, what months did they have available for Savoy when you checked?

It is great that FPC has extended the life of unused 2011 certificates till March 31, 12.

Can I still use those for my stay at Royal York this month?

Yes, you should be able to redeem the certs electronically.
It´s definitely no problem with the room/suite upgrade and free night, and with advance notice I´d think the same applies to the Passion certs.

Absolutely.
I just had a suite upgrade, a free night, and all four spa/dining certs on my wife's account and one spa/dining cert on mine extended until our stay in Singapore in April.
Over the last couple of years I have also had upgrade certificates extended so it's not a new thing.
Call the Platinum desk and ask.

If the exception is made, I think FPC would have to extend the date the certificates are on profile, keeping in mind the date of the reservation.
I was able to use certs post expiry, but the cert had to be extended to accomodate. The changeover actually had the expiry knocked back a couple of weeks, and had to be reissued to accomodate the dates of the reservation in which the cert will apply.

Its a tradition of FPC that if a member is close, then the member would be bumped to a close elite level. The membership is to promo loyalty of the hotel chain. In this day and age with the globabl economy slumping, if you're spending 20 nights a year at Fairmont, your business is desired.
Don't forget to select those Passion Benefits. The sooner you select, the sooner you can burn the certs. I don't see these benefits advertised anywhere.. but if you surf your electronic profile under preferences, eventually you'll be taken to the Passion Benefits screen.
I think this year I'll select the same.. Round of Golf, Golf Lessons, spa treatment manicure or pedicure, and authentically local food experience. What's interesting is that there is a business leadership book selection this year, and you can get a Fairmont robe. The Fairmont robe is making me rethink the authentically local food experience.

Yes, the items are sent to the address you have on file in your FPC profile.
Note it can take a few months for the stuff to arrive.
The box will also include the certificates (spa/local dining/etc.) if applicable, though those will also show up in your FPC profile and you should be able to redeem them electronically if needed (though it may be a little more hassle than just redeeming the paper cert)

Congratulations!
Since Oct 2008 I've spent about 10 weeks living at Fairmonts in Canada. Work purposes, save one week. Likely have another 1-2 weeks coming up in April. ^
Took a while for me to find the benefits selection online,

Toronto Airport Centre? I'm surprised you didn't get on the Aeroplat Plat5 promo any sooner if you are staying at Fairmont as much as you have.
The Passion benefits selection still alludes me.. its only when I fiddle around the preferences section that the screen pops up for me.

I don't use AMEX as it's a charge card. Plus, Aerogold VISA sends 0.0% or 1% balance transfer cheques to me, all the time, which I take advantage of. 'Free' money for 5-6 months at a time.
The picks were cetainly nice but nothing knocked me over as something I really need (eg. I own Kevin O'Leary's book) but I chose Local Food, Music Download, Nat. Geographic, and Teas (will re-gift these!)
Considered golf lesson for next trip to Whistler, but not really into golf - played a few x.

I pay my balances off each month and don't carry a balance. I guess you could do well with the 0% or 0.9% transfers. Sp
The impressive Passion selections are the round of golf because that could run over a couple hundred bucks a round. The golf lesson is a nice touch, as well as a spa treatment.
The robe this year is intriguing.. and its the light waffly type ones that you would find in Hawaii.
Perhaps I'll just wait until Hawaii where I've had a chance to wear one to see if I could use it at home before finalizing the 4th selection. Its one size fits all, and that could be a problem as I'm 255lbs 6'5".:D

We redeemed two food experiences cert.. you can request to the chef something customizable. If worried, you can call ahead of time.
We redeemed for a lobster dish at Mayakoba, and a Harry Potter special evening buffet at the Jasper Park Lodge.

This benefit has only existed since last year, and most hotels are still quite inexperienced with this benefit.
Basically hotels have taken two different approaces:
1) allow guests to choose any main course off the menu
2) have one or several dedicated "local food experience" dish(es) you can choose from (sometimes it´s on the menu, sometimes you´ll have to ask)
That being said, I´m sure the hotel will be very accommodating if you tell them you´d like to have a vegetarian dish.

Probably similar to last year.. but the kit is moot, as the entire program seems to be designed to run online. Online you can make your Passions selections and keep track of unused certificates.
Important.. all FPC members can use certificates now and do not have to wait for the kit. Go to www.fairmont.com and login.

A question to the gurus (non-suspended ones :o ;) ): if new certs have not yet arrived by mail can one still use them by calling in? If you wish to use a room upgrade cert?

I have booked rooms using my new certificates (which have not arrived yet) and was told I did not need them in hand to use them. We shall see.

Absolutely no problem. FPC / the hotel can easily redeem the upgrade and free night certs electronically. I don´t think I handed in a paper cert in over a year.
In theory, you can also redeem the Passion certs electronically, however that can be slightly more challenging as the restaurant/golf course may not have access to your FPC profile and may not even know what cert you´re talking about.
Long story short: You won´t have any issues with your upgrade.

A 1GB USB "key"? Really, 1GB? That's sooo 2010.

Had dropped off of Premier, but hit 10 nights in late April. Not sure when the nights posted, but my account shows the 10 nights now. It still shows me as a club member though. Shouldn't I become Premier and get benefits this year?
Edit: Read through the FAQ. Blown away they don't "officially" award status right away anymore. Didn't even think to check since my experience 4 years ago. Will give it a month or so to see if anything happens automatically. If not will write customer service. I can't think of another loyalty program that does not confer benefits immediately. Really cheapens the program IMO.

If I were you, I wouldn't just wait and hope for them to automatically change the status early. It can't hurt to give them a call or send an e-mail.
