Hey All,
Can anyone help provide a cost-effective way to rent an Avis car at SFO and drop at SAN? I am flying in to SFO on March 24 and flying out of SAN on Apr 2.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

How many days will you spend in SFO? In SAN? Can you limit the one-way rental period to a few days, or perhaps one week? Any particular reason why you're limiting yourself to Avis?

Have you tried any of the discount codes listed in the 1st sticky of this forum?

Also, do you have to drive? Is flying an option? It could be cheaper than the one-way rental rate.

How about booking on avis.co.uk, 300$ for Compact, prepayed, a/i? Possibly 10% less with an AWD number. They don't ask you for the country of residence before you get the quote.

As some have also said, it's highly likely that it's much cheaper to fly one of the LCCs, or Southwest, that allows one-way bookings. If you haven't closed the deal, you probably still can do well.
If that doesn't work out, absent a car rental promo specific to one-way SFO-SAN or intra-California, the best advice is to limit the one-way part to one day -- though the surcharge is still likely to be steep.

Also consider pickup at a neighborhood store, and check all the rental companies.
