Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Cost of MIA-LHR EC->PE upgrade one-way?

Hi friends, could someone let me know the current cost of upgrading an Economy flight to Premium Economy?

I have approx 9,000 miles in this FC account, could I buy some more at the airport and upgrade this flight, or does it have to be cash only?

You can't buy miles at the airport.

Even with a miles upgrade you would still have to pay cash for the extra fuel surcharge.

Am not sure of the miles you would need as they have changed recently so have a look at the flying club section of the VS website.

It will cost you 12,500 miles one-way from MIA to LHR, but you will have to have a ticket in an upgradeable economy fare bucket (Y,B,R,L). A quick phone call will give you the price of this if necessary. (There will need to be a reward seat available in the PE cabin, too.) You may find that it is cheaper to upgrade by cash alone; VS can give you the data you need. :)

Before you check in, sometimes there are VA staff offering upgrades on the day. I recently got offered one for £179 pp each way, this was regardless of the type of ticket I held.
