Made a domestic booking on JAL's website a while ago using a US credit card. It still has not been charged, although the reservation looks normal on JAL's website. Is this normal?

When I made a domestic booking on 1/23, it posted to my U.S. credit card account on 2/2. I was worried too. Everything was OK.

It's been much longer than that for me (booking made around 2/14).

This is not uncommon in Japan. Japanese credit cards tend to have a much longer settlement cycle than US or European cards.
I assume that you have a US card but that the settlement is managed through a Japanese provider.
For me it is not uncommen that I book something lets say March 10th and I wont be charged until May 10th (when the cycle runs).

As long as your PNR is active - you are save as you have guaranteed with your card.
While the fees in Japan tend to take long to come through, they absolutely never fail to do so....:o

Hope the yen weakens for you in the meantime! (unfortunately, I had to pay up a bit as the yen strengthened in the 7 days or so it took a yen charge to post to my amex plat card a while back.)

Yes, it did get charged in the end, and I did get the benefit of the cheaper yen.

Just booked a ticket via their Japan region website 10 minutes ago. Let's see how long it takes them to post it to my credit card account...hopefully yen will get lowered in the mean time but it's not looking good right now :(

If I'm using US credit card and book via JAL's US website, does anyone know if they are processing the transaction in US or Japan? I'd like to use my AMEX but won't use it if they're processing it in Japan and have to pay foreign txns fee.
Thanks.

I assume it's charged in JPY which means foreign transaction fee will apply. But I am not 100% sure as this is the first time for me to buy a ticket from jal.co.jp too.

I was going to use my BA Chase Visa which has no foreign transaction fee to buy the ticket but after reading this post I switched to my JAL USA Card because I am about to cancel my BA card. So I guess I will have to pay for the 3% fee.

OK the charges were posted yesterday. So it took them 9 days. And of course it was posted when the JPY hit the highest and just one day before it starts dropping again

And yes it was charged in JPY so there's a foreign transaction fee
