Hi,

This April, I'm doing a quick visit to Morocco (detour from a business trip) and have hired Legendes Evasions Marrakesh to take three of us a two night trip along a circuit that includes Ait Benhaddou, Zagora, Lihoudi, Chegaga, Foum Zguid.

As we work in education, we've asked to stop and see a school and library. They are suggesting a stop in Tamegroute.

Besides being open for all suggestions, recommendations, etc, I'm specifically wondering if we should bring little gifts for students should we meet any at Tamegroute. I was thinking of sets of colored pencils but wasnt sure if there were any cultural reasons to consider something else...

Thanks,
LAR

I can't think of any reason why colored pencils wouldn't be welcome. You might want to avoid coloring books, since some Muslims believe that it's inappropriate to have pictures of people/animals (hence the reason that so much Islamic artwork involves elaborate designs without recognizable objects).

Obviously candy is always appreciated, but not always welcome by teachers and parents. You might want to look at Oriental Trading Company (which you are probably familiar with, if you're like my friends who work in education) for inexpensive little gifts.

Ait Benhaddou is absolutely spectacular...I need to get back there sometime soon.

I would like to recommend the Atlas mountains, some 60 minutes outside the city proper, a beautiful part of the world.
