American Express Membership Rewards - Canadian AMEX MR - transfer points for others?

I've searched here on FT before, but couldn't find much information about this topic. After five calls into AMEX MR services (Canada), I was told that I am not able to transfer my MR points to another person's frequent traveler program account (e.g. to SPG). This came to me as a surprise as in my previous call a supervisor had assured me that they can do this manually. It's been a bit frustrating dealing with AMEX here in Canada (the program is so much different with much less favorable transfer rates compared to the US).

Has anyone had been successful in transferring Canadian AMEX MR points for someone else?

It's been mentioned here before.

1. Do it online. they don't ask for account name of SPG program, for instance
2. Do it the bullet proof way - get a supplementary AMEX card for that person, and that person can transfer points officially.

For #1, can this person briefly change his zip code and address on his SPG account and I can register his SPG account on my AMEX MR? Oddly, when I talked to the supervisors today, they said SPG account name must match my name on AMEX MR program.

For #2, it's not possible as it's another person who is not a family member.

I am not sure why Canada AMEX makes it so difficult to use the MR!

supplementary card holder do not right to transfer points. if you read the T&C, it is only be able to transfer to your own FF account.

But, if all you want is to transfer to another SPG account, just do it within the SPG level. 2 SPG accounts that has the same address for 30 days or more can submit the transfer online on the SPG web site yourself.

- under "Starpoints® Awards", click "Redeem/Transfer Starpoints"
- last option "Transfer to Another Member", click "Transfer Form >" link
