Le Club Accorhotels - Unusual Upgrade at the All Seasons Paris

Had a one night booking at the All Seasons in Paris, the one just up from the Grands Boulevards metro stop. When I checked in they could not find my booking, but after I showed him a printout of my reservation, the desk clerk walked me next door to the Mercure. He said it was because I was a Platinum A-Club member. Most unusual. My room here is fine, I have a voucher for breakfast and the wifi here is also free, so no complaints.

Has anyone else ever experienced being moved to an adjacent, higher tiered Accor property like this?

As they did not have your reservation maybe they were overbooked?

Possible but didn't appear that way. This is a very quiet period for tourism and most hotels are pretty empty.

Since the "walked" you, shouldn't your first night be free?

Yes, at 'Ibis Hotel Hannover Medical Park' in Germany a couple of months ago I was also moved upon check-in to the next door MERCURE with no additional charges. The reason here was that the IBIS was undergoing a complete construction upgarde process. What a nice surprise this was. Although it had nothing to do with my status.
