Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Flight to Las Vegas, a few questions

I currently have 10600, so if I buy 5000 miles at £90 I will be able to use them for miles plus money. If the Upper Class sale is around £2000 return how much money would I save?

Also are most flights to Las Vegas from LGW full of stag and hen dos and wedding parties?

Hi Godatum

LAS is only one of two routes where upper class miles and money fares are not released. The other is MCO.

See this page (http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/spendmiles/milesplusmoney/index.jsp). Not sure if you need to be logged in.

Usually there is not much of a saving on MPM fares compared to sale fares, they come into their own when there are no sales on.

There is the hassle of changing planes, but i tend to fly LHR to SFO or LAX then southwest to LAS. Lots of UC seats available plus the heathrow clubhouse, and no stag/hen parties on board or at Gatwick!

Ah OK, how come they dont? LHR - SFO/LAX and then Virgin America First might be good. That does mean two more flights though and more money!

Miles plus money fares are rarely (in my experience) good value for money. With your miles you're probably better off buying 15k and using them to upgrade a Premium Economy fare (though be sure to buy a ticket in the right fare bucket - not all PE tickets are upgradeable). There's a wealth of information on all of this over at v-flyer.com

Yes, the LAS route is a party route and Upper Class reward availability is difficult (less flights etc)

As others say, fly via LAX or SFO and UC availability is much better (and they're great places to visit too!)

Simple answer is they don't need to. Only 14 seats in upper which they can sell without discounting- you will almost never see these in a fare sale either.

Oh right. Last sale I saw LHR - JFK about £1,999. What's could be the sale price to SFO or LAX? I'm hoping to visit Dc so I might have to fly into IAD anyway. How do I use my Virgin miles with Virgin America?

Upper class sale fares to LAX are usually around the £2k mark.

And Virgin America are only an earning partner, not a spending partner.

Thanks. I'm hoping the UC sale will allow me to book in September (8th - 18th), LHR - IAD and SFO - LHR.
