I actually had to Google "Nagaworld". I was expecting some crazy snake show! hahahaha

Would you recommend to stay there also for non-gamlers, or would you recommend to go somewhere else?

We´ll be in Phnom Penh for 3 days in the end of March before going on to Siem Reap.

I do recommend Nagworld as a place to stay. I've stayed there my last 5-6 trips to Phnom Penh. I don't gamble much.

It's got a 90% Asian clientele, but the rooms are nice enough, beds comfortable, flat screen TVs, good strong showers, wired internet, good lobby and facilities, etc.

You can get rates for about $95 a night at agoda.com or expedia.

The place has a bit of a bustling, "entertainment" atmosphere at night with the casino and nightclub and whatnot, but the noise doesn't reach the rooms. A lot of dolled up women walking around the place at night too. If that offends you, stay away.

What about the casino?

Is it those like Vegas or Macau?

Like those luxury kinds rather than those underground ones?

I am looking for an affordable room on the same quality level as Sheraton / Hilton. The rooms @ nagaworld look ok. The rate I got seems ok too. I booked a cancelable rate @ USD 96 a night. Just wanted to find out, if there is a better deal in the same price range.

I think it's about as a good a value as you will get in Phnom Penh. I'm not sure if it's quite on a Hilton or Sheraton level, but it's pretty close. I don't think they have coffee pots in the room though, and they don't have a lot of toiletries, just a small tube of bath gel and conditioner.

If you reserved a King room, check when you walk in to the room that it's one large bed with one large head board. Some of their rooms have two twin beds pushed together, covered with one sheet. You can tell because they have two headboards together.

There is some construction going on too, so look out the window and if you see a construction dude looking back in, ask for another room.

Can you get a similar rate at the IC? Or the Sofitel? If so I would divert- particularly with pointbreaks (Priority Club) and Friends&Family (the publically bookable) rates- the IC can be found for <$100 USD.

I have never been to the IC, but it's really pretty far away from most things that a tourist would want to do in Phnom Penh. You're probably looking at a 20+ minute tuk tuk ride every time you leave the hotel.

For a strictly tourism visit- you are correct that IC is not the best location- however it is very well regarded. I wouldn't personally pay $100 a night to stay at a casino in Cambodia- for that price or less you could stay at the FCC, and while the FCC is not perfect- it is very scenic for tourism visits. Of course the Raffles can be had at times for <$150- in which case it may be worth it (for me it would be, however everyone is different).

Actually the Nagaworld location isn't bad at all. And the IC location, while far, at least is on Mae Tse Toung and, outside of morning and afternoon traffic peaks, you can get most anywhere without too much problem. The IC is not a place to be walking from though.

Not a mistake- that is why I suggested as a point break deal it can be one of the very best values in Phnom Penh.

I stayed at the IC on PB and tuk tuk over to Nagaworld.

Took me about 15mins each way and $3 each way.

I'd say that trip should be no more than $2 per direction but you, as a non-resident, negotiated decently.
