We are planning a long weekend in Boston. First time there for either of us. Strictly tourist. The only definite plan is a baseball game at Fenway. Need suggestions as to where to stay. Have read most of the previous postings. Leaning toward the Hilton Back Bay.

That's a good choice for convenience, as it is about a 1/2 hour walk from the hotel or easy access on the T line. There's one other little factor that you might also want to consider and that is to make sure you have tickets before you go, as there are only single tickets available(if they are available) for the 1st 5 homestands. A good source of info is available at the Redsox website: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bos/ticketing/bos_ticketing_info.jsp
You can sign up for email updates as to when the rest of the season's tickets go on sale. If you strike out there, you can always use a reputable online agency. I have found Seacoast Ticket agency to have great prices(about 1 1/2-2 times ticket face value)when availability becomes scarce, and they do Fedex etc. http://www.seacoastticket.com/
Hope this helps.

I like the Hilton Back Bay, and recently have started staying more and more at the Doubletree on Washington. It's right next to a T stop, walk to chinatown, etc. Can't go wrong with either.

If doing Fenway, get tickets now. I lived up there for ten years, and there are no fans like Boston fans.

All the usual tourist stuff is great, the freedom trail, Filene's basement, etc.

I agree with the others. Get tickets now for the Red Sox. They're always a hot commodity and sell out more often than not.

Agree that Hilton BAck Bay is decent, but there is no executive lounge and breakfast is in Boodles? (been a while) but it certainly is convenient to toursit stuff although it is a T ride away from Fanieul hall/Quincy Market/North End

There are several threads on Boston hotels if you search Hilton for Boston

for some more tourist tips

I second the DT on Washington. A hotel doesn't get any closer to a T stop - and the Orange line get's to everywhere. I'm here tonight due to work running way later than expected.

Upon check-in I was upgraded to a suite, received a package of cookies, and also received a comp breakfast ... all without even hinting or asking! Extremely friendly desk staff - and the manager even peeked out to say 'Welcome' Had to pinch myself to see if I was awake ... this is Boston after all.

For your info, single game tickets go on sale this Saturday at 9:00 A.M. via internet, phone or mail. Having tried the internet last year and failing miserably to secure tickets I can only wish you good luck.
