Hilton Suites Oakbrook is very close to Oakbrook Mall, an upscale shopping thing. Some good restaurants around there, such as The Club House (my personal favorite) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The hotel was recently renovated, so things should be in decent shape. BUT there are only two elevators that service 10 floors, and at check-in/check-out times it takes FOREVER to get in and out. Their stairs don't seem to lead anywhere.

Rooms come with video tape players and microwaves and small fridge. And if you get upgraded to a "business class" suite you have a dinner table for 6. Lots of space.

I have never stayed at any of the properties that you mention. I have stayed at a Doubletree about 10 mins away from Oakbrook Suites. The DT is in Downers Grove. I am gold and have been ug to executive floor eveytime except once. I am at this hotel once a month or so. I have also received free drinks at the bar and breakfast as well every morning. On the way to the DT is an embassy suites. I have never stayed there though. Plenty of places to eat around all hotels I mentioned and Oakbrook as well. THe DT is always a lot cheaper than the ES and the Oakbrook suites.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately Doubletree or Embassy or not on my company's preferred hotel list. I have to pick the Hilton Lisle or Hilton Suites.

Have stayed at both properties, the Hilton Suites once and the Hilton Lisle several times. The Hilton Suites is OK if your business is in the Oakbrook/Hinsdale/Downers Grove area, but if you have to be out further east on the I88 "Tech Corridor", (Naperville, Aurora, etc) go for the Hilton Lisle. I didn't think the "Suites" were all that great...and checkout was time wasting.

At the Hilton Lisle, as a Dia (and when gold), I have always been given an upgrade to the (I think) seventh / executive floor. The Hilton Lisle is my preferred place to stay in the western 'burbs, I've always been treated very well there. The food at the restaurant onsite (Algauer's?) is pretty good as well, I've been given free brekkie several times (worth up to $11, I believe).

Too bad you can't use the DT that was previously mentioned, it's very nice. The ES in Lombard is, IMO, a dump and should be avoided.

We've only stayed at Hilton Suites and it was unimpressive. The room was OK but the staff was unhelpful and the grounds seemed dirty. The bar doesn't serve any food in the evening and the free/cold breakfast buffet is very limited. It is, however, agency to the Drury Lane theater if that's of interest to you.

Do either of these properties offer free high-speed internet access?

Hilton Suites Oakbrook Terrace:

It's been several years; but this is the property that walked me late
at night ... after I called from the airport to confirm that they were
indeed holding my guaranteed-late-arrival room. They said they were
holding my room 'cause they'd never give away a Diamond's room.

After taking a taxi from ORD; the desk clerk said "no rooms." They lied.

They moved me to a somewhat shabby Marriott that was within a
few miles ... but their shuttle wouldn't take me there. I had to wait
another ~40 mins for a taxi ... that was exceptionally unhappy about
making a short trip.

I travel to that area monthly. The HS in Oak Brook is a nice property (if you know which rooms to request ;) , but poorly run. Management needs upgrading. And NEVER book a stay on a Friday or Saturday night. That's when partys happen, weddings or things from Drury Lane. The hotel is often out of control, and management does nothing to stop it. The rooms are around a central 10 story atrium, so the party noise affects everyone. During the week it is mostly biz travelers, so it is ok.

The Lisle Hilton is nothing special. Standard Hilton. Nice rooms. Close to the Arboretum Corporate Park. Another choice nearby is the Doubletree Suites in Downers. Very nice, convenient location.

Internet info- How much do they charge for internet access? Also what rate do you get? I see $129 on the website but I'll be staying there for 3 nights a week for the next year and I'll bring along 3 co-workers if we can get the rate down quite a bit. Any ideas?

hey I was there recently. What rooms are you talking about when you say, "The HS in Oak Brook is a nice property (if you know which rooms to request ;)?"

I just got back from a couple of nights there. I always ask for a corner room on a high floor. There are 3 corners with 2 rooms at each corner on each floor. They are X07, X08, X14, X15, X22, and X23. 07, 08, and 23 are the best in my book. The corner rooms are down a short hallway, and have a hallway entry into the room, so they seem a bit larger, and are a lot quieter. They are away from the central atrium, have a small balcony, and provide a bit more privacy and quiet to get work done.
