Hello,

Hoping someone can elighten/reassure me here...

I just jumped on a super-cheap (to me anyways:o) 639USD Y fare EWR-ZRH-BER-GVA-JFK flight for august.

My etix says ''operated by swiss'' but now looking at flightaware/flightstats, it appears that LX19 is a codeshare operated on a 738 Privatair plane...which wiki tells me are business-only planes...

a) I've never booked on swiss before, so I can't seem to find if it will still be that plane in august. the wiki entry on privatair says that EWR service ends on March 30th 2012. Does that mean that it'll go back to a 333 or 343 with normal economy?
b) If not, am I gonna have a couple thousand dollars surprise at check-in as I definitely didn't pay a business fare?

Any help appreciated :D

Yep, Swiss is taking the route over in spring 2012 and will fly it with real long haul planes ( aka Airbus A 340/333 ).^

According to a M&M letter I received sometime ago, NEWARK will be operated by a 3 COS A340 from the 31st/March.

I will be on this flight (LX 019) on 7th March. IT would seem that it is the Privatair jet, but didn't they reconfigure this into both Economy and Business seating?

The lease with Privatair is ending and LX is putting their own planes back on this route at the end of March. Why would anybody invest in a refit of the BBJ before this? (Not to mention that flight economics wouldn't work on a BBJ with a mixed cabin...)

Thanks, Airoli. I will be on that flight Wednesday (EWR-ZRH). As seatguru is of no help for this particular flight, any idea where the best seats might be?

The seat map for LX19 on March 7 shows a 56 seat J cabin on a 73H. This is the standard All-J PrivatAir for LX cabin. GF and LH both have PrivatAir configurations that include Y but not LX (per the PrivatAir website).

any idea where the best seats might be?I've only been on this service once and from what I could tell, there were no significant differences between any of the seats (2-2 layout). I think I was in the 3rd row from the front or so.

Together with Mrs more4less we flew once between EWR and DUS and I guess it was the same configuration.
Also we were seating in row 3 or 4 but all the seats looked the same.
What I remember well is that the service was very attentive.

Do the privatair operated LX 18 and LX 19 accrue UA MP miles?

Do the privatair operated LX 18 and LX 19 accrue UA MP miles?@:-) They are treated exactly the same as any Swiss flight as they are wet-lease (same e.g. as United Express operated by Skywest). So yes.
