Looking for information about the Hilton in Dalian, China. There are no reports listed here. Has anyone here been? Nothing posted in the Asia section, either.

Sorry, no info for you, but I would also be interested to hear about anyone's experiences.

The Hiltons in China are some of the newest in the world, so I would only expect good things. Their website says:

"A 21ST CENTURY MASTERPIECE IN CHINA'S FASHION CITY Towering 36 storeys above the city centre, Hilton Dalian is a stunning example of contemporary design and modern luxury. Like every great work of art, Hilton Dalian blends all the key elements harmoniously - deluxe accommodations, gracious hospitality and state-of-the-art facilities."

From this description and the photos it looks pretty nice. Love to hear real-life experiences if anyone has been to this, or any of the newer Hiltons in China.

I have stayed in Dalian early January for three days.
Great Experience !!!
Upgrade to exec 34th floor room (of 35)
Each night two cocktail vouchers for the skybar, free breakfast and loungeaccess.
(I am HHGold)
My room had a very nice view of the harbour.
The fitness and spa facilities are excellent.

Hope you will enjoy your stay as much as I did mine

The Hilton Dalian is one of the best Hiltons in Asia IMHO, and for an incredible value (room rates around USD 70.-).

I stayed there approx. 5 times, and was always upgraded to Executive Floor, as Gold and as Diamond. There's a nice Executive Lounge for Breakfast and Snacks, and a member's club called Sky Club, where you can have two drings for free with a voucher each day (go to the men's washing room and you will have a superb view over Dalian while releasing your drinks again).

Rooms are big and very modern style, with floor to ceiling windows from wall to wall.

The staff is very attentive and the general manager wrote me a personal letter home twice after filling out the comments card.

They provide a free airport shuttle, if you ask for it (just call or e-mail and indicate your flight number and arrival time).

I really love this hotel.

Thank you for the information & sharing what you know about this hotel.

I knew there had to be FT members who had experienced a stay here.

I am at the Hilton DaLian currently. Everyone is very nice and the hotel is in a good location. Not a far walk to Victory Square and other shopping areas (every area is a shopping area) and a short taxi ride (a whole 2.00 at the most) to Tiger Square or Xinghai Square. Xinghai is the largest square in China and this past week has been hopping with Asian tourist since it has been Golden Week. This hotel caters to many Chinese Weddings. Due to the # 8 being a lucky number in this culture, the couple walk in at 11:18 or 11:28 etc. Anytime that would include the # 8. The confetti and balloons that are thrown are very decorative and festive - cut out shapes, not typcial confetti that we use. The hotel has it all cleaned up (this happens right in the front drive) within minutes and ready for the next ceremony. The shuttle was in fact free from the airport as mentioned earlier. There is one American restaurant owned by an American called I-55 Cafe (I woo woo) and you can get a regular tuna sandwich - I have a hard time with gelatin that has squid pieces (that and squat pots, but have "had" to use them at time) and some other items that have looked back at me. Overall, the food has been fine. I suggest getting the hep A and B before coming. Although more modern that other Asian cities, hygiene is still not a priority. Driving is not a good idea, either.

The spa and workout areas are great. We have an apartment here (at the Hilton) for several months, so I cannot answer directly about the hotel rooms. We have a two bedroom apartment with a living room, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and storage area. The small washer is a unit that washes and dries all in the one full cycle - but comes out with wrinkles. Maid service still comes daily. There is security at the elevators and we have full access to anything the hotel offers, except the exec. lounge. Even though we are Diamond members, we only get access to the SkyClub each night as far as lounges and comp food and drinks. Once I move here in the fall (if we move here), we can & will pay a fee that allows us to go to the exec. lounge each morning for breakfast. Right now my husband does not have time to eat breakfast before leaving for work and left that option off. Room service is quick and it is good food. The Asian spring rolls are really excellent. My husband is here on business for several months. I will go back home on Monday. There is a very good chance that we will be moving here for a two year assignment. It is very interesting here and it will be an experience. If anyone is coming to DaLian and you have questions about the hotel, just ask away. If I don't have the answer, I can get it!!

Overall, this turned out to be a short trip report and I am sorry about that. I meant to make this a Hilton Post. Anyway, there is much to see, but not much to "do." Other than shopping and a bowling alley, I have not found too much (yet). I know there is an aquarium. When you finish shopping, you can go shopping. The stores have stores. After that you can take your packages back to the hotel and go.................yep, shoppping! Did I mention there is shopping nearby?
