I am visiting a company that is equidistant between the two hotels. Mixed reviews for Torrance but none for Carson. The latter is a bit cheaper.

Torrance is supposed to have wireless in the rooms, Carson wired hi-speed and wireless in the lobby.

Any opinions?

The Carson unit is directly adjacent to the always busy 405 with a refinery in the back yard. Been there for ever. I'm not familiar with the Torrance property but you may want to do an age check and go with the "youngest"

The Torrance Hilton used to be the Holiday Inn. Nothing fancy, but a better location (across the street from the Del Amo Mall and right next to one of Torrance's restaurant rows) than the Carson Hilton which is right on the freeway.

Carson???

If you are planning on going out at nite forget it.

The Torrance Hilton is right by Del Amo Mall as well as a bunch of restaurants

I'm typing this from my room in the Carson Hilton. The in-room access is via STSN wired (Ethernet or USB) @ $9.95/day.

It's not a bad property, but definitely a lower-end Hilton. The location is a bit sketchy but not terrible; but Torrance is definitely a better area.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info. I looked at Biddingfortravel. There is a review there and it appears to be a favorite with people getting for little more than $30 a night.

I think I'll heed advice and change to
Torrance.

Carson = likely to get mugged or more

Torrance = Less likely to get mugged or more

It makes sense that Carson is a bad 'hood by looking at the map. (Is it like Gardena?) However, I was thinking that it couldn't be that bad since they built that soccer stadium there. It would drive away your "white bread" demographic, which is important for soccer in the US......

Torrance is not a garden spot either!

I've stayed at both of the properties. I would stay at the Torrance Hilton over the Carson Hilton anyday. The location is better, the hotel is better and the resturants are better.

Spend the little extra and you will not be disappointed.

You know, I noticed the neighborhood was more like a "hood" when I was there last week on $59.00 rate (also netted me the full 50,000 points for ACAQ). Still received a free breakfast as a GLD, one of the lights in my room didn't work, but still a good stay. HGI is better, however.

Was considering rebooking, but after reading the truth posted above....yeah, somewhere else. I love El Segundo HGI (can't wait until the get rid of their ant problem).

Did I miss a promotion or something? I'm Diamond but don't remember seeing this anywhere. Is it still open to get them or is it too late?

The Torrance hotel is ok. I thought the lounge was lousy. No newspaper and slim pickings. The grapefruit juice had started to ferment. A big sign about charging for alcohol in the evening -- that's really lame. Don't stay at Hiltons much domestically..... is that the norm?

Am I supposed to get breakfast coupons as a Gold?
