Hilton HHonors - Do free stays earn stay credit?

Points are given even for free stays at a Hilton, but is stay credit towards Silver, Gold, Diamond given as well? Thanks.

Yes.

The irony is you often also get any stay-related bonuses for award stays too.

I believe that in some instances you may need to charge something to your room. It could be a local phone call, a cup of coffee, a pack of gum, etc.

HH points yes, stay credits yes, Miles - no.

NO! You have to charge nothing.

Not supposed to get miles but I have on at least 50% of my award stays and funnily enough it seems to be mostly the ones where I have a fair amount of room charges.

I guess I am confused. I just stayed at the HHV on a ALON award in Dec 2003 should I have earned what on this stay? I know I am supposed to have gotten anything I have charged during that stay but do I get credit as in nights stayed but how do I get points based on a free award? I am a gold hhonors member. Please advise. Thanks

You're supposd to get:

- Stay credit for the stay
- Nights credit for each night
- the 10 points/$ plus Gold 25% bonus for all eligible charges.

You're not supposed to get:

- Miles (the "double" part of "Double Dip")

Will I get stay credit if I use another persons Hhonors points but the room will be booked under my name?
