Anyone stayed at the Islamorada Hampton in the Keys? We'll be in Key West soon but plan to drive up to Islamorada and made a reservation at the Hampton. Have driven by it several times but never paid much attention to it.

My family and I stayed there about a year ago. It was one of the better Hamptons I've stayed in. Large, fairly new suites. They have boats that pick up right on the property for scuba/snorking trips. There's an Outback on site and a good BBQ place not far down the road. Don't expect a Conrad or even the Key West Hilton, but it's a fine property that sort of matches the Keys vibe.

My thoughts exactly. We had a huge suite facing the blue-green waters of the Atlantic. Very fine stay. Quiet. Definitely go to the Cuban dive that Ted Williams used to frequent - it is right nearby.

We go down and stay at the Hampton Islamorada twice a year for Scuba trips to the Spiegel Grove and other wreck sites. Excellent property.
Don't forget to try Lorelei's and grab a bite and a beer and listen to the live music as you watch the sunset.

Thanks for the feedback. We're looking forward to 70-80 degrees instead of -10 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Has anyone stayed here recently? I know that it had some renovations done a few years ago after a hurricane hit the area.
It gets mixed reviews on TripAdvisor.

My wife and I stayed there a couple of nights in November of 2008. Likewise we had driven by it several times in trips to the Keys and finally decided to give it a try. It's a nice enough Hampton, but as I recall the regular rooms did not have a microwave or fridge in them, as most regular Hamptons would. I guess that's how they distinguish their suites from regular rooms at this property. Having an Outback Steakhouse on the property was convenient, but you're also in a short driving distance of a number of other restaurants. The beach there is nice but nothing special -- your typical Keys narrow spit of sand. There is a shop on site that can arrange snorkling/diving trips if you're interested in that type of thing.

Just came back from a great stay there. Diamond member, so I called during business hours a few days prior to arrival and asked to speak to whomever assigns the rooms. The manager, Kara Lundgren was helpful and assigned us an upgraded pool view. Overall, the property meets all Hampton standards perfectly. Our suite was immaculate. In many ways the property exceeds "ambience" standards. The beach area is meticulously manicured and raked daily. The hammocks, lounge chairs and individual tikis are an expensive maintenance headache. I have owned property in the Keys. This hotel is fabulously maintained and clean. There is dockage available and a locked gated area for boat trailers. A jacuzzi pool and beautiful landscaping. I could go on and on. There is a tiki bar outdoors with full Outback menu for lunch and dinner. Lounging on a hammock looking up at the stars with kids fishing off a nearby dock is pretty much as good as life gets. All this for our midweek room rate of $160 for a two-bedroom suite. Don't believe the trip advisor reviews - - Ms. Lundgren is running a topnotch hotel in a challenging location.
