I'm staying at one now...Dallas (Las Colinas)..and I frequent them as they are one of my favorites.
Homewood's are mutli-room suites usually consisting of a bedroom, bathroom, living room and a kitchen. Sometimes you even get a fireplace. The kitchen is fully functional with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher.
Your room is cleaned daily and you are usually given a USA Today.
There is a free hot breakfast and also free dinner Mon-Thurs eves. there is usually a calendar menu on your refrigerator to tell you what they are serving that evening. I believe there is free beer/wine (I don't drink) every night too with dinner.
Overall they are usually very clean and also offer high speed internet...sometimes not free....sometimes free. I believe that if you leave them a list (minimum $10) they will go out and shop for you during the day. Also there is a guest laundry in case you need to do a load or two.
Overall they are a good value and I think that you will be happy with your stay. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
PLUS...you get Hilton points!!!! Wahoooooooooo!!!

The Homewood Suites in San Jose is in the heart of the business center, so there is not a whole lot around there. These is a little shopping center next door with several restaurants, a bank, and some other stuff - but since it primarily serves the businesses around, most things there are closed by 8 or 9 in the evening.

You will be about a half block away, though, from a light rail station which will take you into downtown San Jose.

Overall, though, I tend to make that my first choice when I'm staying in San Jose. Their rooms are really well-kept, the staff is friendly, and the location works for me, even if there is nothing immediately around.

Mike

I stayed in this hotel a few months ago. It was my first stay at Homewood Suites. While the dollar per square foot ratio is good, the construction quality of the facility is not. I literally FELT every door slam in my “block” of rooms.

Wow....first time I've ever heard someone "slam" Homewood..pun intended. I have never noticed any slamming of doors etc at any of the Homewood's...I stayed at 6 different one's last year with a total of 112 nights.

Do they have an airport shuttle, Mike? No one seems too crazy about the other HH properties in the area that do have one, and there's no mention of one on the web page. I'm looking at possibilities for an upcoming trip and was leaning towards another chain's nearby property, but usually like Homewoods. Thanks.

To be fair, I must admit door slamming is one of my hotel pet peeves.

I actually called to inquire about a shuttle and apparently they do have one. They told me that I would just have to call for the shuttle to pick me up and if it wasn't available then I could take a taxi and the hotel would pay for it.
