I haven't posted here and am hoping this is the right place.

I went and stayed at a Club Carlson hotel. This was booked through Egencia by my corporate travel agent. The rate clearly says that it's eligible for hotel rewards points as it is the Egencia Preferred Rate. I have found information on Egencia's website about how if you use their preferred rate that you are eligible for certain things (including rewards points).

I stayed at this hotel for 4 1/2 weeks and they have given me no rewards points at all. I have called their customer service number numerous times. The issue was escalated once and it was denied, it is now in the process of escalation again to someone else.

Has anyone else been successful in receiving their points when your hotel was booked through Egencia? If not, does anyone know if there are any hotels out there that will honor their points when booked through Egencia? I know that most 3rd party websites are excluded but according to the Egencia website getting these is a perk of booking through them. I am able to pick what hotels I want to stay at when I travel so I am open to any suggestions on where to stay!

I thought it's only possible to get rewards points if you book directly with club carlson or the hotel.

Maybe Egencia just copied the text of the hotel offer.

Here's a link to the page I found that outlines the differences between Egencia's preferred rates and Expedias. The whole process is just frustrating. :)

Was it a prepaid rate you stayed on? Or did you pay the hotel directly upon check out?

If it is the latter, you have more of a chance of getting something from CC. Most prepaid rates that are not booked directly with the hotel chain won't trigger points as they could be wholesale rates / special room block rates etc.

Have you tried to pursue Egencia on the matter? Since their website confirmed that points will be awarded, they have some responsibility here too. Given their relationship with the hotel chain, they might be able to pull stronger strings for you.

I think the issue is with the travel agency. I believe Club Carlson is pretty clear that they only give points if you book with them or at the hotel. If you believe the travel agency implied you should receive Club Carlson points, then I would think you should ask the travel agency to make it up to you in some manner.

No, if the travel agency booked you a published rate, which mean that you pay upon check out, then you will get stay and points credit. Travel agents can book the hotel directly, through the res centre or through their CRS.

But if you have prepaid the rate and not directly to the hotel in question, then chances are is that the TA booked you a rate that is a consolidator wholesale rate and that is not eligible for points.

It's always been hit and miss, for a couple of big exhibitians my company exhibits at every year the rooms are block booked by a travel agency, sometimes we get points sometimes we don't, what you do get is the nights counted towards status, so you should now be Gold Elite based on a 4.5 week stay, you should also get points for whatever you spent at the hotel which you paid for on checkpout.

What you should also do in future is use the price match feature, I've saved thousands using it, and you get full points.
