It appears Platinum only gets you a 100% point bonus at Novotels. Has anyone had any luck in getting a free upgrade, late check-out, or welcome gift at Novotel locations?

Goldorak Feb 23, 12, 11:44 pm It appears Platinum only gets you a 100% point bonus at Novotels. Has anyone had any luck in getting a free upgrade, late check-out, or welcome gift at Novotel locations? Upgrade : yes to a suite at Novotel Edimburgh centre ^. But keep in mind that many Novotel have only one type of room. In most cases, upgrade at Novotel means having the same room but with a nicer view or higher floor. Sometimes it means also a room with more amenities (bathrobe, nespresso machine in room and free internet). This happened to me several times. Late check-out : yes, without pb Welcome gift : not at Novotel (at least those I visited) starflyergold Feb 24, 12, 12:13 am I got a drinks voucher couple of times, and late check out was no problem. Again keep in mind that A-Club promises you nothing at Novotel other than points so anything you do get is a bonus but can't be demanded. SouthWesterner Feb 24, 12, 4:26 am As above, I always seem to get a drink voucher at Novotels now (and at Mercure hotels too). I have been given upgrades at Novotel but the program doesn't entitle one to receive them. virtualaris Feb 24, 12, 5:57 am Upgrade: I usually booked their highest category so don't know about it. But on Novotel Beijing Xinqiao, my friend's room was upgraded from executive room to suite. (Mine is suite) Late check-out: yes, no problem at all. Even sometimes I got early check-in (8 am), that's the benefit if you book suite room :p Welcome gift & drinks : never for welcome gift, but most of them gave welcome drinks. Tips: book on their early break or city break promotion, their executive and suite prices are more affordable ! ^ ToneDaBass Feb 25, 12, 7:47 pm Looks like it's not a foolish endeavor then to ask for perks, good to know. Thanks! af fp Feb 26, 12, 5:52 pm One should not have to ask. Novotel Annecy yesterday, I did not ask for anything and indeed got nothing. Not great... MikeBOS Feb 26, 12, 7:16 pm I've stayed in several Novotels over the last year and the only Platinum benefit received was a fairly worthless drink coupon for a non-alcoholic drink only at the Novotel in Toronto. Aside from that no upgrades, no free drinks, no welcome gifts, though as others point out none are promised. I would set your expectations at zero and you won't be disappointed. calvinoeh Feb 26, 12, 7:51 pm Maybe we should create a thread/list of Novotels that do recognize Plat/Golds? I had Gold recognition at Novotel Nathan Road and Novotel Citygate in Hong Kong. Room upgrades and drink vouchers provided. Goldorak Feb 26, 12, 10:46 pm Maybe we should create a thread/list of Novotels that do recognize Plat/Golds? I had Gold recognition at Novotel Nathan Road and Novotel Citygate in Hong Kong. Room upgrades and drink vouchers provided. I had status recognition at Novotel Edinburgh centre and Novotel London Paddington. I may have had also a drink voucher at Novotel Seville. Don't remember other perks elsewhere. Koby Feb 27, 12, 1:13 pm I would set your expectations at zero and you won't be disappointed. Exactly. But even that is not enough. I have been assigned, as Gold, the worst rooms in the house in some Novotels (rooms on lowest floors, right above the kitchen extraction machines, directly above the entrance with people talking and smoking outside, smaller than standard rooms, rooms facing a wall, ...) :td: I don't care about free drinks, and there aren't a lot of upgrades they can give in a Novotel, but they should at least keep their Golds and Platinums out of the below par rooms. fijaircan Feb 27, 12, 10:41 pm At both Novotel Auckland Airport and Novotel Suva (Fiji): Upgrade: upgraded to a deluxe room (little better than the regular room). Late check-out: yes Welcome gift & drinks : no welcome gift, but got welcome drinks at Auckland. Cupart Mar 2, 12, 3:00 am I find the whole "welcome gift" a bit silly tbh... I mean it's not a gift is it, as it has been incorporated in to the room price? A bar of soap or whatever is hardly something I would consider something to come back for... Chocolates, macaroons and other snacks are hardly considered gifts but rather complimentary snacks which I appreciate quite a lot ^ The only "gifts" which actually have a great value, IMO, are the Khemer scarves given at the Sofitel Angkor Watt which are worth gold when traveling around the temple complex's... They also give you a CD with the history of the area with photos as well as other local significant product (which are gimmicks, yes) but still are something specific for where the hotel is located ^ wandering_fred Mar 2, 12, 7:13 am Gold status. Novotel Taoyuan 2 different nights stay 3 rooms upgraded to Exec floor. Very nice views. would go back. would recommend. although a bit out of the way for Taipei City. I find the novotel citygate in HKG (Lantau Island) convenient but have not stayed there since getting the Gold card. restaurant not a bargain except for (very popular) buffets. Happy wandering Fred RJ77 Mar 6, 12, 6:48 pm Gold status. Novotel Taoyuan 2 different nights stay 3 rooms upgraded to Exec floor. Very nice views. would go back. would recommend. Got upgraded to the Exec floor with lounge access as well. Great property. PabloM Mar 11, 12, 5:13 pm I checked into 3 rooms at Novotel Perth Langley last Thursday and they didn't do any room upgrades but did give one room free Broadband Internet. I rarely find any significant benefits at Novotel's. |
