Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - 747 row 1

Why is row 1 ALWAYS blocked.
My wife has a medical condition, and row 1 would be better for her
can they unlock these and pre-assign these seats?

On my seat preference I do have that my preferred seat is 1a, and I imagine thirty thousand other Thai flyers have the same. I never knew it was blocked, sometimes even when I jump up and down or stamp my feet, they still wont give it to me, which goes to show what?

Hrmmm. I have a reward ticket later this year and it auto-assigned me 1A. I don't have the TG record locator yet, so I can't check internally on their site, but that is what Continental says I was assigned.

Hmmm strange. I also booked a flight (actually 2) on Thai using aeroplan rewards. They asked me to call Thai Airways to reserve my seat, and sure enough, I had no problem getting 1A on the 747 (and 2A on the 77W)

Same. Booked 01A on LHR-BKK-LHR 6 months out.

Row 1 is not blocked on the 744 (10 F seats). It is blocked (at least partially) on the 747 (14 F seats).

I did 14 F segments on 346 and 744. Row 1 was never blocked. Once, in the past 3 years, someone beat me to it because I changed my flight 3 weeks out. I got 1K, instead. OnceI was seated in 2A but moved to 1A at check in due no show. The only other times I have missed row 1 were when traveling with a companion. On the other hand, I usually bok 6-11 months out.
