"SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, has launched its new Go Africa Pass (http://www.skyteam.com/en/About-us/Press/News/20111/SkyTeam-Launches-Go-Africa-Pass/) providing cost savings and flexibility on flights operated by Kenya Airways within Africa. The pass is available to business and leisure travelers flying with any of SkyTeam’s 15 member airlines on an intercontinental round-trip to Africa or a Go Round the World ticket."

Summary: (http://www.skyteam.com/your-trip/Travel-Passes/Go-Africa-/)
- Economy class
- Sold in combination with any SkyTeam round trip/open jaw/RTW ticket originating outside Africa with a destination in Africa
- For flights marketed and operated by KQ
- Minimum 3, maximum 16 coupons; unlimited stopovers
- No changes to first flight
- Changes to subsequent flights free of charge; $50 for no-show; $50 plus any fare difference for voluntary re-routing

It doesn't give any details of how much this will actually cost, but simply says "Fares are calculated based on the number of miles flown non-stop". It also doesn't say what booking class this will book into.

It looks SkyTeam have finally replaced the "Passport To Africa" fares*, that KL used to offer for KQ flights, years ago. As long as the fares are reasonable, this is definitely a good thing, IMHO.

However, even though KQ are busy expanding their network in Africa, I still think it would be nice if there were another SkyTeam carrier somewhere in Africa (presumably in the west somewhere) to participate in the "Go Africa Pass" as that would open up many more route combinations.

Making the "Go" travel passes available online would also be very helpful - as in the past I've found that it can be hard to find a travel agent who actually knows how to book them.

* FWIW, "Passport To Africa" booked into Q, and was also available in Business in Z.

I like that it can be combined with an awards ticket but it's pretty random how they don't price it or give a sense of how to buy it on the website.
