Good news. Noosa used to be my favorite place when I lived in Brisbane.

Now what the heck does this mean?

Announced today, the airline said it will commence flights between Auckland and LA, San Francisco as well as other northern US cities during the winter season, using Sunshine Coast Airport as a pit-stop.

As far as I can tell, NZ is only sending A320s to MCY, and only the Tuesday flight seems to connect well with NZ services to North America.

Now what the heck does this mean?I suspect the pit-stop is meant to be AKL in this case. But as you point out the timing is not that great.

As someone who visits the Sunshine Coast every year at least once, I shall be watching this one with interest as it will certainly decrease transfer times.

The downside is that it will use A320s. And there will be no Koru club I'm sure. But with the Brisbane lounge going from bad to worse that may not be such a loss.

I've given them a couple of rev-ups (as I'm sure others have) about the brisbane lounge and there definitely has been a noticeable improvement. It is still no gold standard, but at least it is better.

Finally got rid of the god-awful american hot dogs, as main food choice, at least, and that has to be an improvement in anyone's book!

I thought that MCY tends to attract the more mature and well-heeled travellers. My impression has always been that it is a lot more upmarket in general than , say, OOL for instance.

That's certainly true - Noosa is a more expensive destination (and a particularly nice place, I might add). However I wonder just how much difference that will make to yields?
