Aegean Airlines Miles&Bonus - 'Normal' time for miles to post into Miles and Bonus account

Hi all,
Any indication/experience on the 'normal' time for Star Alliance partner airlines to post into Miles and Bonus account?
Miles and Bonus 'virgin': flew BMI's LHR - RAK in C last Friday, Feb 17th: nothing posted so far; when should I get worried?
Have a few C bookings coming up over next couple of weeks, hence my slight concern.
Thanks;)

I think it comes down to how quick the carrier is in their posting, not so much A3. So it will differ between the *A partners.

Even if A3 usually post their own miles in a day or two, I wouldn't be worried in your case. If you your BP showed A3 and you were in a fare class that earns, it will (almost) always work. Wait 2 weeks, and if till no sign, then file a retro claim.

For most of my flights the posting occur within 3-4 days. But it depends on how good the reporting airline is. Usually coming from a bigger station it seems to be a little faster than smaller stations, but I did not make any scientific examination of this factor.

Normally within a week is my experience.

For retro claim well...I claimed 6 weeks ago for a flight, still nothing. Claimed it again 2 weeks ago. Nothing.
So now I've tried again to see if it works.

When I've emailed their customer service it's usually taken around 3 weeks for them to reply.

My NZ flights posted in 2 days.. And i have noticed something about retro claim..... My miles always get posted at the end of month, not sure if others experienced the same.... No matter I claimed on the 24th or 5th of the calendar month, it always showed up on the 30th or 31th..... I made another claim on the 1st of Feb, and I'm still waiting... If my theory is correct it will show up on the 29th.... Will wait and see

I hate the fact that there is no tool to monitor your retro claim. You do not even get a notification on whether this has been rejected or accepted (if weeks pass and miles go uncredited, you just have to assume that they were not credited).

Almost exact same situation for me. I flew LHR-AGA (Q) on bmi Feb 11, return RAK-LHR (E) Feb 18. Nothing posted the week after either flight so I put in a mileage claim on the M&B website. A few days later (not sure if it was due to the claim or not) the RAK-LHR flight credited but nothing for the LHR-AGA flight yet. I called in and the Aegean rep said it can take up to 10 days and they "were waiting for a response from BMI".

Hope this isn't BMI just letting the outstanding requests pile up until their sale goes through!

1. The majority of M&B-members fly A3 most of the time - and I think the claim procedure is designed for this. (I believe that an A3 retro claim can be processed automatically and online as you claim). For other airlines there of course is no direct connection, and your claim will have to be validated in a manual procedure. In this procedure, they will send your claim to the operating carrier, and there is nothing they can do before that carrier responds to the claim.

2. I think A3 M&B is faster/better than many other airlines in this regard. Please keep in mind that they ask you to wait 2 weeks before retro claiming, and after your claim has been made, to allow for another 2 weeks of processing. There really is no need to get nervous for your miles or even call them before this time has passed.

3. In all cases (I have heard of) when there is a delay in crediting, it is due to the airline that you have flown. Some of them are just not very fast in posting miles (as they will have to pay for miles). There is really not much A3 can do about that.
For some travellers (especially those who change the FF# on their ticket one or several times) miles actually might get posted to another program. This can happen even if M&B number is printed on BP. Again, nothing A3 can do anything about.

Please keep in mind that they ask you to wait 2 weeks before retro claiming, and after your claim has been made, to allow for another 2 weeks of processing.

The two week investigation period is, I think, standard practice between *A airlines - when I had a reasonably complicated retro-claim with BD involving an involuntary re-route onto a non-*A carrier courtesy of UA, I was told the rules allowed the flight credit to be forced through after 10 working days if no response was received. This is presumably done so airlines can't delay paying the FF scheme for miles for ever and a day to improve their own working capital.

My own experience so far has been limited to LH and US - both of which credited on the 3rd or 4th day after flying. I'm flying BD for the final time in just over a week, which will take me to A3 Gold, so hoping the stories here of non-posting are the exception rather than the rule, particularly as retro-claim under IAG ownership could be very interesting!

The longest I've had to wait so far is two months for a CA flight in the beginning of January, which credited today/yesterday. I waited two weeks before submitting the first retro claim, and sent another one another four weeks after the first one.

My A3 number was in the booking and IIRC on the boarding pass also, and other flights on the same itinerary (some of which were also on CA) posted within 3-4 days.

I made a retro claim about 2 weeks ago for flights I took with NH & SQ. They posted exactly a week later. My Tier status remained unchanged (at Basic) despite the miles amounting to more than 20000. But 24hrs later, it did get upgraded to Blue. I waited for another 24hrs, and it was upgraded to Gold. The changes in status seemed to happen between 8pm to 3am (GMT).

In comparison, the retro claims (for the other sectors on NH) I made with UA MP, on the same day, have yet to post.

I made a retro claim for two connecting LH flights on the same ticket (BCN-FRA & FRA-IST) and have up to now only been credited miles for one of them. Funny. If there was a problem with the claim (i.e. fare not giving miles), I would understand not to get the points for any of the flights, but this situation of getting the miles for one flight and not for the other one is akward.

I'll give them another 2-3 weeks to deal with it before I do more. I guess the delay has something to do with the fact I was a rebooking on this flight, after my original flight got cancelled.

I'm not saying that what happened to me half hour ago is the reason for miles not posting for several people, still one should consider this glitch as well. I had a flight booked through a TA (ATH-GVA on LX, cattle class). M&B account was indicated by the TA, the trip was also registered on my LX profile (miles are supposed to be registered with M&B), yet when I explicitly asked at check-in I found out that no FF account was to be found in the system! Strangely enough, the system also didn't allow me to do web-CI, so I don't really know what was wrong. The fact that a (Swiss) TA was involved (for a trip starting in Greece)? Anything else? My BC shows the last three digits of my account but no mention of status. I'll now wait and see whether the miles will ever appear.

Third one: my BC mentions GOLD with huge bold letters. And final surprise, my status (A3*G) is also indicated with equally huge letters on the BC for my connection in ATH which, for a change, is not with A3 but OA, and which, though, is not a member of *A. I wasn't totally convinced that the check in agent actually updated my FF number because she was confused by the connections on a OneWorld airline (BA)...

My two European short haul eco flights with Lufty 10 days ago would also have gotten me over *G but they haven't posted either...

Should I just give up and ask for a BMI status match?

If you give up, you lose a significant number of redeemable miles too even if you get the status anyway. Have you tried calling A3? Have you faxed your receipt and boarding pass to A3? Is there any chance that UA could have credited your return direction miles to a different airline's FF program, including UA itself? And could the missing miles on UA be from around their changeover on March 3?

On 10 May I filed a retro claim for a TK flight my wife took on 16 April, IST-NEV.
There was no FF number on her BP.
Not yet posted and zero response to emails.
It's the flight that would put her over into Gold status.

This posted today, my wife is now A3 *A Gold. I don't think it was Aegean's fault this took so long. When I called Athens a while back, they explained that they apply for the credit and the issuing airline has to respond. I think the lag was TK's.

The check-in systems simply record where the miles are to be routed. It does not mean that they will be credited accordingly. When well programmed, the checkin console should only display partner programmes, but details can be manually entered by an agent. I'm guessing this is what happened here. Of course this flags the PNR as having had miles requested - and represents all manner of pain for the passenger when mis-entered.

Flew on AC and LH metals, and A3 credited the miles into M&B account within 2 days. Even quicker as normally LH does.

Just to update from my experience in the beginning of the thread - Aegean eventually manually credited my missing miles from the BMI flight. I emailed miles_bonus at aegeanair.com with scans of boarding pass and ticket and they sorted it out within about a week. I still don't know why the miles didn't credit automatically for that flight.

On other experiences trying to credit miles to Aegean I've since found out the issue can be due to using a combination of FF programs in the same journey, for instance using the lounge or priority check-in on an AC*G aeroplan card but asking them to credit the miles to A3. On one such flight my miles ended up back in my Aeroplan account despite A3 number being listed on boarding card and making sure I was clear at check-in that I wanted the miles to go to A3. After the miles posted in aeroplan though there was nothing Aegean could do. I tried a retro-claim on the Aegean website and an automatic response came back saying the miles had been credited to another program. I chalked it up as bad luck, but definitely something to be aware of if using one card for lounge/priority check-in and another for collecting points. This happened flying BMI and Egypt Air London to Johannesburg. It was likely further complicated as dealing with two airlines on same boarding card, and I wanted BMI miles to go to A3 and Egypt Air to go to Aeroplan due to the fare classes I was flying working out better that way. Everything went as planned for the flight down, but on the flight back all points ended up in Aeroplan (likely indicating Egypt Air messed it up at check-in in Joburg).

Same issue occurred for another Aegean flight to Greece ending up in Aeroplan, using aeroplan for priority check-in and lounge but wanting miles to go to A3. I'm now very careful not to enter the Aeroplan number anywhere in online check-in, or even giving it to them at check-in desk (only showing it to them), and making sure that at every step of the journey only A3 number is "in the system". The one exception is in the lounge they need to scan the aeroplan card, but on my most recent flight this was not an issues - all miles ended up in A3.

Long story short - trying to transition from one FF program to another while still using the *G benefits of the old program can complicate things!

It will - most probably - lead to a not-working automatic credit, so you'll need to retro-claim it.

Then, it might work, or not. If not, write them an email, with a scan of your BP. You should be fine after that, as A3 still has real humans checking the email, and not robots like at Franzhansa.

Based on my limited experiences with this airline (I'll admit it), my experience has..frankly sucked. My experiences getting miles credited to many American airlines such as DL, UA and NW (back in the day) took 5-7 business days after I manually submitted them. This seems like a black hole where my letters, emails etc go into a black hole.

I am calling a spade a spade. This method sucks and leaves me not really in a hurry to fly A3 or credit to their program anymore . I was planning a large honeymoon purchase with extensive A3 travel....

"Regarding flight CA0174 2/11/12, kindly be informed that we have submitted new retro claim as we have received negative reply to the initial one "ticketed name not found on specific flight". Please recheck your account in 14 days.

For your future knowledge, at the claim form you must insert at the field "name on ticket" firstly your surname and then your name(ex. xx/xxMR)

So I presume most of us did not put name in correctly format, I think it must be identical as your boarding pass, even if it contains "/" or any symbols, as well as MR/MS etc.

I hope after they resent retro claim, I can see my miles get credited asap.

I have seen a similar problem before where the system simply refused to accept my name in any format (incidentally from an A3 flight retro-claim), whereas on previous retro-claims I had filled out the form exactly the same and had no problem whatsoever in getting the miles. Suspicions that A3 has also inherited BD's IT platform as well as its FF's continue ...

Fortunately, in my case a phone call to the A3 call centre found an exceptionally helpful agent (the rule rather than the exception I find) who sorted it all out for me and the miles arrived within a few days.

Hmm. I paid for an upgrade on UA. Original miles for the booking class have been credited for the two legs of the journey, including for the upgraded segment. I'm guessing an email will have to be sent as the retro claim process doesn't seem to cover that circumstance?
If you purchased a cheap upgrade at the gate (especially the COdbaUA "tens of dollars" type), you will probably only get miles on the basis of the original fare purchased, not the FC or business class bonuses for class of service.

Purchased at OLCI: more hundreds than 10's! Shows it was rebooked into Z on the intinerary, so I'd imagine I should get the new miles.

IMO not necessarily. Normally upgrades accrue miles on the basis of the original fare purchased. Exceptions seem to be some Y-UP fares and cases where the buy-up to the premium cabin is really a matter of paying the difference in fare between your ticket and a regular fare for the premium cabin on that segment, frequently offered with a change fee. A lot depends on how the operating carrier reports the flight for FF miles. If they transmit the purchased fare code or calculate miles from that, you lose, but if they report it as the premium cabin Z fare or calculate miles from their Z fare, then you get additional miles. It might also matter whether the ticket was reissued for the upgrade.

Unfortunately, if you put your name into the wrong order, then you won't get miles credited. I put the wrong order last time and it was exactly as Aegean air said, they could not find my name in the system.

You can send another update email to them and advise them that your name order was wrongly input, and ask them to re-submit your claim again. You have to make sure your name is identical as your borading pass.

Miles still not posted, so called the hotline and got a very helpful agent on the line. It turns out the error is with LH ( she read the decline message to me from LH...): they had cancelled my flight and automatically put me on the next one. When A3 tried to claim my miles, LH for whatever reason only looked for me on the cancelled flight and then told A3 that I didn't exist... The nice agent re-submitted the claim. Time will tell....

Dear all,

I am anM&M FTL at themoment but I just realised that I will not be able to make 100 000miles to be a *G / SEn on M&M so I was just looking for an alternative way to get higher on the ladder..

After looking at the Victoria Program from TP then Eurobonus and M&S I found the A3 program... signed in and I already have 2000 miles from the 20000 needed in order to hit the *G status (which will be the end of my odeyssey):)

As I am based in London, I was wondering if a LHR-ZRH-GVA in E class will give me 2000miles (500miles per segment)... and 4 x 1000 miles in J, P C or Z class

is anyone able to clarify that as I am really ready to keep myself up in the air during the week ends.

Question? Sorry if this one has been answered previously.

I'm able to reach Gold on the the first week of Jan 2013, and I just qualified Blue in Nov 2012, how does A3 count membership period? Does it use calender year or consecutive year?

For example, if I get qualified Gold in Jan 2013, do I get that membership until 2017?

Thanks in advance.

Previous A3 practice seems to have been calendar year but YMMV for the expiration date on *Gold cards. However, you need to pay attention to the rules about inactive accounts and maintaining *Gold.

Jan 1, 13, 7:58 pm
I have a tight time between flights that will hopefully upgrade me to Gold and an international trip for which I hope to be able to take advantage of *G benefits.

My upgrading trip that will push me over the 20k mark is on US from January 24-28. I'm then flying UA on February 3.

Will there be time for a mileage post and status upgrade and recognition in the *A system in this time?

Edit: I signed up with the 1000 mile bonus, then flew a few flights and was upgraded after 4614 total miles. After my upgrade to Blue I accrued 11615 miles. I recently had a retroactive claim approved for 1629 miles, but that claim was for a flight flown before my card upgrade to Blue and the location of the miles in the list reflect that date.

So total I have 17858 miles including the 1000 mile signup bonus, and I'm set to fly 3258 more miles in January as I mentioned. But I only have 11615 miles accrued post-Blue upgrade in terms of dates. So after my flights in January, I'll have 21116 total miles but only 14873 post-Blue upgrade.

Do you think I'll get my Gold upgrade?

My situation:
Me and my brother flew late Dec with Egypt Air in Business Class (J and Z) from MUC to KUL via CAI and BKK.

All flights besides the KUL to CAi (via BKK) were credited.
All flights were non codeshare and flown with Egypt Air machines (nice 777 Cai to KUL)

A3 responded and said Egypt has issues crediting the flight from KUL to CAI. They didnt say why but it sounded like MS is denying the miles.

I mean how is that possible on a business class booking ???

I'm having a similar issue, also with a late Dec. flight, but with crediting UA to A3. I would call MS and check that they have the flight in their system. You will probably have to send A3 a copy of your boarding pass and perhaps give them a call also.

Hello

I had to retroclaim miles for an Air Canada flight (SN Brussels Codeshare SN 9551 on the Ticket but then the Boarding Pass shows AC 833) on 4 February after I couldn't add my Aegean card to the booking at the self service machine.

I have filed the claim about a month ago and nothing has happend yet. Do you consider this as normal, should I wait or do I have to take action?

I've claimed it as an AC flight, could that be the problem?

Also last September when I booked the ticket, the Booking class earned 100%, meanwhile (before my flight took place) they changed it to 50%. As it was a mileage run it's annoying, but I guess there's nothing I can do?

Thanks! Cheeers

All of them? My experience is that flights from certain airports take longer (e.g. FCO) while others are in your account in "no time" (e.g. HER). All of those using OLCI! Impossible to understand what the reason for this could be.

If the airport system used by the company checking you in doesn't have a dynamic link to Starnet/operating airline's system, they will batch the files out every few days - thus, sometimes it is instant, sometimes not.

3. All my other segments have posted correctly to other programs and my A3 number was on my boarding pass.
4. Aegean submitted another retroactive claim for me two weeks ago after nothing had appeared earlier.

Great minds...

No idea what the issue is. I thought that maybe ANA had flagged this segment from partner airline FF accumulation given this mistake fare (despite it being a paid business class fare--regardless of the price) or maybe ANA segments simply have trouble posting to A3. Either way, I'll be calling Aegean again soon to prod them on this. Gotta start enjoying my first elite status!

I have finished cataloging post wait times.

Some things I have learned:

1) Nobody actually flies A3
2) Global average is around 4 days

Some things I recommend:

1) Post using numbers! Not words. Because I have to read through all the posts, and when you write using numbers, it takes too long.
2) Even worse, don't post using days! Don't say "I flew on 04/25/2013 and the miles posted on Friday." Ugh. Huge pain.
3) It's nice that you got upgraded to a Gold card, but wrong thread.
4) Please post route you flew.
5) Please keep posts as short as possible.
