have to fly AZ in July FCOJFK and cant make the earlier flight with the new A330. So, 777 it is. The horror stories of the crummy A330s are well known but what of the 777? New seats? Same service as the new J product on the A330s?

Thanks!

There are now five different J's on AZ:

*Old A330, the "crummy" one, although that's more for Y - the J is ok.
*New A330, excellent (or at least very good) in both Y and J.
*B767, good J, bad-ish Y.
*B777 not yet reconfigured, the J seat is said to be not so good on this one, Y very good.
*B777 reconfigured, which is an awful 3-4-3 in Y but an excellent 1-2-1 in J with the newest bed-type seats like new A330.

With time only the second and the fifth configurations will remain, however for the S12 you could get any of them. If you know you are getting a 777, the way to check if it's reconfig or not is to simulate a Y booking for your flight on the AZ website - if it gives you 3-3-3 seating when you check the seat map, then probably non-reconfigured 777 with bad/mediocre J seat, and if it gives you 3-4-3 (or erroneously represented as 2-1-5-2) then probably reconfigured 777 with good J seat.

The above differentiations refer to the seat only - service is the same on any flight, and reportedly very good. Also note plane changes could happen.

Personally I don't mind the "old" 772 - OK its not flat but its a very wide seat and its fine for a 7 - 8 hour journey (JFK)

Agree that a LAX would be FAR better in "new" config^

Flying from LAX --> FCO in June. Booked an economy plus ticket - I am assuming this is the new 777 config, correct?

If you've booked classica plus it must be

Have done FCO - LAX on 777 with AZ last year in J and found if good flight.. Personally didn't mind old Y on 777 with AZ but done that on FCO - MIA

Classica + is good. AVOD is excellent with gd screen. Seats have good leg space although my back found the flight a bit uncomfortable after a fee hours ( obviously I'm talking on A330 experience but product is the same )

Anyone know which one of the 777 configurations is used for NRT/KIX?
