What is the meal service like on this flight since it leaves at 00:45 AM and arrives in MIA at 7:30 AM. I assume there will be full breakfast before landing but will there be any meal service after take off?

Eastbay1K Feb 21, 12, 9:37 am I'd expect a departure snack plate (they typically are pretty substantial) followed by a full pre-arrival breakfast. I can't speak for that specific route - but this seems to be the pattern for all madrugada LIM departures headed to the US. zpaul Feb 21, 12, 10:14 am What is the meal service like on this flight since it leaves at 00:45 AM and arrives in MIA at 7:30 AM. Eastbay1K is correct - all the food comes on one tray instead of in courses and it's not quite as substantial as a dinner, but unless you haven't eaten all day it's a good amount for the timing of the flight. You'll have access to the Sumaq lounge in LIM, as well, and they have snacky stuff there for pre-flight. Eastbay1K Feb 21, 12, 10:18 am Here's a recent example of the snack: http://www.airplanefood.net/images/zp-core/i.php?a=airline-meals%2Flan-airlines&i=139.jpg&w=400&h=300 (http://www.airplanefood.net/images/airline-meals/lan-airlines/139.jpg/view) worldtraveller73 Feb 29, 12, 2:16 pm In my humble opinion, the food at the Sumaq lounge is usually quite stale by the evening flights. If arriving to the airport early, I'd recommend the expensive Ramada hotel restaurant or the public food court instead of relying on the lounge options. david_33 Mar 1, 12, 2:31 pm In my humble opinion, the food at the Sumaq lounge is usually quite stale by the evening flights. They keep bringing out fresh sandwiches, but the potato chips and crackers might not be optima. Once again, I suggest 4D on the left after riding up the escalator. Another forum member enjoyed the special "4D sandwich". Eastbay1K Mar 1, 12, 4:59 pm They keep bringing out fresh sandwiches, but the potato chips and crackers might not be optima. On a December visit, one of the sandwich options had a skanky quality so delicious I spit it out. I don't know how the SUMAQ lounge gets such rave reviews. phlashba Mar 1, 12, 5:10 pm On a December visit, one of the sandwich options had a skanky quality so delicious I spit it out. They have some unfortunate sandwiches with black olives... bingocallerb22 Mar 2, 12, 4:48 pm On a December visit, one of the sandwich options had a skanky quality so delicious I spit it out. I don't know how the SUMAQ lounge gets such rave reviews. Agree, do not know how they get any rave review in the first place. Nice enough ambiance, I like going there BUT the WiFi sucks big time. I have complained before. This time they first blame the customer: "there are too many users" but I pointed out that everyone but a few had left, so answer two, blame the customer, "it is your laptop, some people have trouble with their laptop". As I explained I have had the same problem with my other laptop and they really need to simply upgrade the WiFi to handle more users and machines, mine connects... Ah ha, she says, you are connected now (so end problem) aarrrgghhh. I ask for the libro de reclamaciones, it arrives along with a supervisor who proceeds to tell me they are well aware they have problem. They are currently trying to upgrade their WiFi but it is delayed because of negotiations with the airport authority whose regulations vis a vis electromagnetic signals in the airport is delaying implementation. Finally an honest answer without blaming the customer... But, well, blaming the airport authority jeje. Bottom line, the WiFi may improve but at the moment it sucks. phlashba Mar 4, 12, 7:32 pm If the Sumaq reviews are in fact real I can only speculate that they are from pax who have never or don't usually have lounge access, because there is NOTHING impressive about that lounge. OTOH it's better than sitting in the terminal! amolkold Mar 4, 12, 10:32 pm I had a similar-timed flight ex-LIM last month (01:15 scheduled to IPC, which is 300 miles shorter than MIA). I had a more dinner-y meal, although there was no breakfast on this flight. http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q635/amolkold/LAN%20Trip%20Report%202012/_MG_4760.jpg If there is breakfast on that flight, here's what the pre-arrival card looks like on a LIM-JFK sector, woken up 90 minutes before landing: http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q635/amolkold/LAN%20Trip%20Report%202012/_MG_5335.jpg?t=1330319096 And what breakfast looks like: http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q635/amolkold/LAN%20Trip%20Report%202012/_MG_5344.jpg?t=1330314677 And yeah, the SUMAQ is crap. I'd try to get a bite before going to LIM, or get something in the concourse. |
