Interesting pair of articles today...I find it a little disturbing that Hertz is the only major player stepping up and supporting this legislation. Makes you wonder what other safety features have been purposely deleted, and what recalls are ignored, just to save a few bucks.

I think we had an old thread discussion on this, where EHI admitted to purchasing monkey models that didn't have all the airbags which regular consumer models were equipped with... Supposedly the manufacturers no longer give the option to fleet purchasers of subtracting key safety features, but who knows.

They probably aren't interested in getting the recall work done since they can't charge loss of use to the manufacturer. :rolleyes:

Yup, big class-action lawsuit - and big 'ol settlement to boot. IIRC, fines up the wahzoo as well.
