New York City - Rental company recommendation @ JFK

Hi Guys,

I'm a member at all the top rental companies and believe also have elite status due to my credit card.

My issue is that although I normally rent from Avis exclusively (at Avis First level) I am quite fed up that I no longer get nice cars and the upgrades are now few and far between.

Does anyone have a good recommendation of which rental company has the nicest cars for an "intermediate" class rental at JFK on a round trip rental?

Hertz has never failed me yet especially on the Club.

They're all a bit of a crap shoot. You say you have elite status. What level? If you have Executive or Executive Elite with National, I'd say go that route as an "intermediate" reservation will let you pick whatever you want from the Executive Selection aisle, which is likely to have at least something that's not a run of the mill econobox. The Emerald Aisle for basic Emerald Club members also usually has some choices, but they tend to be more basic.

Hertz also has an Emerald Aisle-like feature now called Gold Choice for #1 Gold members (no need to have elite status). But I haven't heard great things.
