Iberia Airlines Iberia Plus - What information is required to cancel a flight?

Hi, I'm in kind of a worry right now. Basically I have a flight booked for April, booked through Iberia being operated by British Airways. The email I booked it with and had my confirmation/e-ticket sent to was hijacked yesterday and I'm not able to get it back due to the hijacker changing the recovery email too. (Last time I'll be using gmail ).

I did manage to print off my e-ticket etc before the hijacking, but my concern is, could the hijacker in spite cancel my flight without my knowledge as he has access to my reversation number/e-ticket? I didn't delete those emails before my account was hijacked. Kind of information on the emails == reservation code, ticket number, payment information (last 4 digits of card showing). Passport number isn't shown.

I phoned Iberia and tried to explain the situation and they said to contact BA since despite booking it through Iberia, the flight was gonna be operated by BA. So I sent an email to BA explaining that my email had been hijacked etc and I wait a response from them.

I logged into my booking on the Iberia website by using just the reservation code and my last name (Which the hijacker will have) and changed the contact email to my secure email, but that can just be changed by logging in to my booking again with the code/last name and entering a different email.

Now the reason why I'm panicing is because of this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/southwest-rapid-rewards/596936-information-needed-cancel-flight.html topic. Although that's 5/6 years ago, so my question now is do you need other information to be able to cancel a flight? Passport number? Date of birth? etc, or could, if the hijacker wished just phone British Airways and give them the ticket no/booking no/reservation code and tell them to cancel my flight?

Please help, thanks.

suppose you cant cancel flight....but could get a new ticket code to feel more secure.....if you have insurance guess you or the hijaker could cancel your ticket just tell them give you new codes and call them before leave.....

Is it possible to just ask them to give me a new reversation number/code then? Flight is an economy/non refundable flight.

yes they can change anything or something to make it special to you.....but if you cancel you loose your money....just keep checking and see if hijacker wants to do more damage to you....suppose not....at least he cant take the flight without photo id and credit card orginal in your hands:;)

Point being -- all web-based email offerings are fairly secure, and can't easily be hijacked. If you think it's a problem on gmail's side, you might be ignoring the real cause (and be susceptible to another hijacking).

No phising or malware, I suspect it was lack of security on my part as my password was fairy easy to guess, and also my one and only security question was also easy to guess (didn't have any other backup protection like phone number etc). I just don't understand how they bypassed the alternate email, since I have an email on my other (secure) gmail account saying my password to the other one was changed, was under the impression that I'd be able to recover it using the other account but nope, they've changed the recovery email too. All of my other accounts are secure. But anyway, still awaiting more advice on the actual problem :p

All is well, spoke to a helpful lady at Iberia this evening who seemed to understand me, not like the person I spoke to last night. She added a note onto my reversation so that my passport number is required if I wish to cancel my reversation.

Just updating incase this is a problem for anyone else in future and they somehow manage to see this topic.
