Is anyone familiar with this? What is the approximate value of a point (i.e. what can you get with 50K points, 100K points, etc.) The website for the 2011 event does not have the items listed any longer and I'm attempting to determine how much my current offer for points is worth.

Thanks.

For physical merchandise, like cameras, jewelry, automobiles (yes, they do offer these for over 10 million:)) etc. the numbers vary. But for gift cards, it is generally 100 dollars requires 20,000 points.
This promo is normally based on play in Las Vegas only--but two years ago play in any of their casinos counted, provided you earned one point in LV. For certain months they are running a bonus promo (invited guests(?)) where you can get EXTRA gift shop points. GS points can only be redeemed at their special promo in late NOV. and early DEC.--I don't have the exact dates handy.
(The GS bank is separate from your rewards credits--you can check your GS balance at www.greatgiftwrapup.com.

My experience with this promotion was that between 2010 and 2011 the rate of point accrual dropped by 1/2 and the cost of items about doubled, so our buying power was about 1/4 in 2011 than in 2010. I may be wrong about the accrual rate, but we earned less points on what I thought was about the same play.

So even if you had seen the "prices" of items from 2010, this would not give you a good idea of what they would cost in 2011.

I would not expect to see the 2012 "prices" until September at the earliest.

In 2010 did you play in any Harrahs casinos outside of LAS? In 2010 they counted play nationwide into your "gift shop bank" (as long as you earned at least one point in LAS)--in 2011 only play in LAS counted.
Gift cards have generally been 2:1 for all types,

That was not my understanding. I thought in both years, LAS + Northern NV counted, but if other locations counted in 2010, that could explain the accrual rate difference I perceived.

However, there's no doubt about the price inflation. The cost of items we 'purchased' in 2010 nearly doubled.

I have too many the promos gifts (some of which I have not yet opened:D); now I just stick with gift cards--for me, a Shell GC is like cash.
