Back in 09 I made the honest mistake of renting a car too small for 4 people/luggage. The friendly lot guy "upgraded" me to a bigger vehicle at no charge.^
Well........... I tipped the guy pretty good. Anyways does this still happen at the Vegas airport Alamo? I am Vegas bound this fall.

And you're sure the tip is less than it would cost to upgrade to the next car class?
National FAQs advises renters to speak to a manager and NOT to tip the lot attendants. Seems like good advice - you don't want to have to explain to the booth attendant why you're leaving with a car above the class you paid for with nothing better than "because I bribed the lot attendant to give me a better car."
FWIW, I haven't gotten any complimentary upgrades at LAS since they opened the consolidated rental center - even when my car class section was empty, they told me to wait for someone to bring a car up.

Both managers and employees work the lot line. You will have better luck toking an employee. There is generally a double upgrade limit for employees whereas managers have more leeway.

Where did I bribe someone to give me an upgrade? The fella moved us up from a "fullsize" to an Enclave without any request. The tip cost me $20 for a 6 day rental.... just over $3/day Abe...
Your post sounds a bit snarky! Probably why no one in Vegas gives you a freebie!:p
