LAN LANPASS - LAN Continues to Amaze Me

I am flying my last of seven sectors on LAN today.
1. On every sector the e-ticket number was missing and I had to go through a 10-15 minute process to get it sorted. No LAN station was ever able to correct the problem.
2. At check-in for my SCL-EZE-MIA flight, LAN was not able to issue the boarding pass for the AA sector EZE-MIA. I asked why. The answer, if you are flying First or Business it does not seem to work! That is how to treat premium passengers.
3. I have another trip in May on another RTW ticket. LAN has again resumed the process of cancelling the LAN sectors.
I did discover today the Preferente boarding counters opposite Door 6 at the Santiago terminal. Very nice with their own immigration and security lanes.

LAN misconnected my bag in Buenos Aires. Rather than put it on one of three AA flights - I was in fact connecting to AA - they put it on a flight that was delayed by 19 hours!. Got the bag 4 days later. I am happy just to see my bag.

oh but you shouldn't complain right? this is just like any other airlines. LAN isn't bad. entire world is.
seriously, just chalking it up as cultural issue isn't going to solve quality issue in S. America. I am about to take my last LAN flight of this itin, so let's see whether i will go 0-5 with lan.

Did you fly to EZE in business class? I had always noticed that my bags and those of other passengers in business always seemed to arrive last on the belt. I had a suspicion that given the political climate in Argentina coupled with the power of the unions and local mindset there was a chance that our bags were being held back on purpose. A wait of more than 30 minutes was typical. On my last trip I asked a LAN employee if in fact there was a purposeful mishandling of bags with a "priority" tag by the union baggage handlers. She confirmed this. So, I would postulate that the problem with your bag was not caused by LAN, but by local baggage handling personnel in one way or another. In the future I will ask that priority tags not be put on my bags for flights with EZE as a destination.

Me too, my bag got misdirected... By Continental at EWR, took over 2 days to get to me. The CO staff in Lima were super nice and apologetic, it was the shenanigans by CO at EWR that sucked. And my bag gets consistently beat up... Not in SA where I see them PLACE my bag on the belt, but rather at JFK or MIA where they THROW it and crush it regularly. Knock on wood, but with literally dozens of recent flights on LAN, never had my bag misdirected damaged or lost... never. On my 3 recent NA carrier flights I am batting 100% delayed or damaged baggage. Your experience may vary.

Flew Premium Economy but with priority tag. There are certainly union issues at EZE. Generally I have had success with LAN except on this last trip. Putting the bag on a flight delayed by 20 hours was not so nice. There were five AA flights that left on which they could have put the bag. Oh well, at least my wayward luggage did show.

During the 45 minute baggage delay at EZE they also opened my luggage and stole something. Not valuable but was necessary for my trip. The next time I will also not use my Rimowa luggage.

Rimowa luggage is a target for baggage handler thieves as are other expensive brands.
