I'm trying to use points to book a room in early July at the Hyatt Santa Barbara.
When I try to book with points (for a stay of 3 or 4 or 5 nights- i've tried all combos), the website will not let me and states "fully committed, etc."
But when I try the same exact dates for a paid stay, it shows availability for the lowest room class with both a AAA rate as well as a pre-paid rate. Interestingly, the hyatt daily rate only shows a deluxe room available, not the lower class that is available by using the AAA or pre-paid rate.
Why is this? Isn't this in essence a "blocking" of a valid award booking?
If I can book the lowest level room right now with an AAA rate, shouldn't I be able to use points instead to make the booking?? Seems fishy! :)
