Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Something's wrong with 2747 5500

Something strange is happning today. Waiting for a long time to get through to an agent is one thing (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cathay-pacific-asia-miles/897639-asia-miles-hotline-always-busy.html) - but today I can't get through at all even at the hour and with iPhone's redial feature. What's going on?

Happened to me a couple of times before. My guess is CX has a set of lines and once those lines are jammed pack, you don't even get a "waiting line" anymore and the phone system just wouldn't accept your call. Makes sense as this is a chaotic time with all the systems upgrade and worried passengers calling in and waiting information.

It's only tonight. Even the afternoon (3:10PM) is not as bad. I have another query (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cathay-pacific-asia-miles/1302203-tips-get-f-seating-2-class-sold-3-class-configured-744-a-2.html#22) and tried calling through at 6PM. I got through the first time round but wanted to leave the call til later, but I never got through since.

Doesn't matter if its MPC, e-service HK, e-service Canada,
all I've gotten is "I just wanna feel by Robbie Williams" for over 6 HOURS. :mad::mad::mad:
I'm going to lose my hair if I keep hearing that, i've even got my family members to call now just to throw in an extra line

I've been able to call through since you've posted but cos Beijing call centre's closed for the night, I'm trying both the English and Canto lines. No luck for 90 mins! I'm going home.

Sorry for the green cards, if you are honestly lucky you will get a reply. Otherwise, good luck. Asia miles hotline has a better chance then MPC hotline. Amen. My mom silver card numbers always get an answer in less then a min.

Once through (between 8am-11pm), Mandarin option not that long to get through even on GR, I managed to talk to Beijing agent yesterday and do my first pair of seat amendments.

Well same here, my parents are Silvers and that's not usually a bad wait but what I had experienced yesterday was just simply bad.

Try now. You can't even get through to 2747 5500 or 2747 3838, much less key in a MPO number of any tier.

Once through (between 8am-11pm), Mandarin option not that long to get through even on GR, I managed to talk to Beijing agent yesterday and do my first pair of seat amendments.

I've tried most numbers off my heart yesterday, I had to call Canada Reservation Desk and get someone from e-service to call me back because ticket was with 24 hours of flight and I needed a change

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair have recently upgraded to a new passenger reservations system. While most of our systems are now online and functioning as planned, there have been some teething issues – as expected with a system change of this magnitude. As a result there has been an increase in the volume of calls and call handling times at our worldwide call centres as well as The Marco Polo Club/Asia Miles Service Centre.

We therefore encourage passengers holding Cathay Pacific/Dragonair reservations to make necessary changes through Manage My Booking on this website using their e-Ticket number. Passengers who are not flying now are recommended to call the call centres at a later date when call volumes will have subsided.

We are working hard to assist our customers as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience.

Been experiencing the same thing for a while now...I mean over the last two or three months. Dialing 27475500 and busy tone...the good news, is once I can finally go through, never to had to wait for more than 10 minutes.

I called the toll free number from china at noon yesterday. Got through on the 2nd attempt. Waited for abt 5 mins before someone picked it up.

4am hk time dialing yesterday was 8 times to connect then another 20mins wait.
A 630pm dial in was about a 25min wait after connecting.

Tried at 1:45am HK just now. Got through on 2nd connection attempt, after keying in my Gold number, another 5 minute wait or thereabouts.

Same for me.
The line is not working for 2747 5500 or 2747 3838 for last night and today up to now.

Can I dial 2747 5500 and book an award ticket on American Airlines with Asia Miles? I'm not actually a member of Marco Polo Club, I'm just a regular Asia Miles member without status.

You will be routed to the same call centre and, yes, it is possible even though this should not be encouraged.

Mandarin line (GR): Started 4:02pm today, got connected after 19 redials at 4:11pm (thanks to iPhone redial function), spoke to Mandarin operator 26 mins after.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I dial 2747 5500 from the U.S.? I dialed the U.S. exit code 011, then 800 2747 5500, but I got a recording "we are unable to complete your call, dial 1 or 0 first, then the number." I tried 1-800-2747-5500, but that doesn't go through either.

I'm using an AT&T landline.

I think 852 is not considered a toll free number in the U.S., so that would be long-distance charges to Hong Kong basically.

Request upgrades before all this system update... Thanks god I guess. Now even upgrade request that needs to ring MPC or AMs... surely lots of people will be dialing it up this number.
