I have an upcoming flight from FRA to AMS on a Fokker 70. What is the story with my standard 22 inch US style roll aboard carry on luggage? Is it a plane side valet situation as it would be on most CRJ flights in the US? I am not familiar with the overhead bins having never flown in a Fokker previously.

It depends on how busy the flight is. Full flights means you get a pink tag and you can drop off and collect at the aircraft steps. When the flight is not busy you can take it on board. The overhead bins should fit your bag. A F70 is far more spacious than a CRJ100/200 or even a CRJ700 or CRJ900. It seats 5 in a row (like MD80).

...and when flying business you may always take it on board as well.

I am Skyteam Elite Plus, a Delta Diamond... maybe that will help. Don't flights like this commonly use the remote pads anyway? So unless it is pouring, collecting a bag at the base of the steps may not really matter anyway.

There was a statement that at least KL Elites were excluded from gatechecking but that line has been removed from their website.

And they / we no longer appear to be excluded from this.
But you can always rip off the tag and take your carry-on on the plane with you anyway, seeing that tagging bags tends to be random with some having to gate-check and others allowed to bring their carry-on on board.

Whatever you do, avoid row 17. I just learnt that the hard way on Sunday (I didn't get time to check Seatguru).

Oops. Last row is never good but worse in F70/100 and MD80/90/B717 due to the engine mounts. Only good if you have some serious indigestion;)
(you wouldn't need Seatguru for that, would you?)
