Following the bankruptcy of Spanair Iberia will increase the flights to/from Tenerife.
This article talks about a meeting between the municipal council, regional councillor of tourism of Tenerife and someone responsible for network development at Iberia.

Regarding international routes, the council has requested that Iberia
offers First Class options * on flights to London, while Iberia considers
routes to western France and direct flights to Saint Petersburg

*I assume they meant Business Class, but Teneriffe-London is quite a distance so Business Club could be a possibility,
if they decide to launch the route that is, and if they do it might be operated by Iberia Express...

sure some of you remember that in the past BA was flying form the UK to Canary Islands.
The airline was GB Airways, a BA Franchise, but with BA flight number, airplanes with BA design, Club,...
During winter season there have been up to 20 flights a week between UK and TFS, most of them from LGW.
LPA had up to 4 flights a week to LGW.
All with A 320 or A 321.

If I rember well, GB was bought by Easyjet about 3 or 4 years ago.

I used them frequently, but also as part of a long-haul trip to the US, as some flights (DFW) departed from LGW.

So there must be a market for this.

They have launched a weekly flight, ORY-TFN on Sundays, there already is a weekly flight ORY-TFS on Saturdays
So who knows maybe they'll launch LHR-TFN/TFS

If this happens I'll eat my hat. I've been waiting for a direct LON-LPA 'J' service ever since GB Airways was sold to those in orange in March 2008. When I looked into the feasibility of the route, the chances are very slim. Equally goes for TFN and TFS.
