SAS EuroBonus - A day as usual on SK
A week ago I have unconciously moved from eco to economy extra, because FAs did not put up the labels properly (is it really so hard to put up these? I miss them every second flight). I was lucky, the FA apologized for the lack of labels and asked me to move back. She even found another seat for me with a free seat next to me, so I can work efficiently. Very nice! ^
Today on SK752 I had the dubious experience watching an FA instructing a somewhat confused PAX (not myself) who apparently unconciously has switched his seat from economy to economy extra.
FA's first sentence: "Why do you think we put seat numbers on BPs?"
PAX: ??? (puzzled)
FA: "Why do you think we put seat numbers on BPs?"
PAX: ???
FA: "Why do you think we put seat numbers on BPs?"
PAX: ???
FA: "This is another class. Please move back to your seat."
PAX: moves back to eco, apparently not to his seat.
FA: "Is this your seat?"
PAX: no. But this is in the irght class, is not it?
FA: "Why do you think we put seat numbers on BPs?"
PAX: resigns and moves back to his seat.
...
I know that the PAX was wrong (labels well all right), and I do know that the airling may insist on having the PAX seated in his seat for balance reasons (but it was the first time I have seen this enforced on a big bird like MD82). However, being right does not mean anything here.
When SK's stuff will learn that one should never make a fool of a customer and mock him down? I experienced this myself so many times with SK ground services, that I am sometimes asking myself, why do I suffer them. With SK stuff there is almost 50% chance, that being right justifies being rude. I hardly met this attitude outside SK services.
The last time a similar situation happened to me in the checkin service in CPH, I stopped flying SK for 1 year. They lost about 100 segments from me, simply because someone was too impatient to be polite.
Just had to share my frustrations ...

Let me guess - the FA was Danish?

Actually the MD:s are more sensitive to the distribution of wight than for instance the B737. This is due to the configuration with long fuselage and engines in the back, ie it is not unusual for seats to be blocked due to this. This is obviously no reason to be rude though.

One person moving seat will not make any difference. The FA was being patronizing and tried to intimidate the passenger which I believe is not very service minded.
I hope the PAX sent a compliant to CS...
This was clearly a Danish FA ...

I'll keep her response in mind the next time I'm unceremoniously put in a middle seat by the gate even though my BP clearly say's otherwise.
Let me guess - the FA was Danish?
We've got quite a lot of those at OSL as well.

This is the same company that makes you take a numbered ticket from the machine before they will speak to you at the counter, even if there are no other 'customers' in sight.

most likely the reason is that they need to keep track of how many customes have passed during the day. If thereīs not enough, they might eventually lose their jobs, so itīs important to them.

Had a similar experience yesterday on flight from PEK to CPH. At the beginning of the flight, they always say that if you are hungry or thirsty during the flight, just come back to the galley to get something. So at one point in the middle of the flight I wanted a cup of coffee. So I wandered back to the galley. I stood there for a couple of minutes while FAs wandered around me like I was invisible - I was standing in the middle of the galley. Finally, one of them asked what they could do for me. I stated I wanted a cup of coffee. He looked put out but made me one.
Why make the offer if you don't really mean it? The FAs can be so hostile sometimes.

How is this hostile, or am I missing something?
In all fairness, you could have asked for a cup of coffee instead of just standing there expecting the crew to guess what you want.
Lot's of people do walk around (and stand still) on long haul flights so can't see what the problem was

People tend to forget that FAs actually are humans to.

^ and they do have other things to do during flights other than serving PAX even though it is a huge part of their job.
Rudeness has no excuse what-so-ever as the OP encountered.
Now, I'm not singling out a specific group of nationals here but being from one of these countries myself and having lived in all three Scandinavian countries, I think the NO's come in half way on the top 3 of expected rudeness DK taking the pole position and SE the overall winner in friendliness :) I'm not from SE btw ;)
This said, there are always someone who can make one feel less welcome no matter what nationality they are so I'll leave it at that...

I didn't ask because the FAs were doing other things and I didn't want to interrupt them until they had time to help me. But I would prefer that my coffee isn't served with a roll of the eyes. Hence, I said that the FA who made it looked "put out."
Just like many other airlines it is a hit or miss. I have experienced both friendly and very service minded FA's but also extremely rude FA's when flying SK. After many years of flying in all classes I would say that FA's in C on IC flights often does not appear to be enjoying their job while the FA's in Y/P (both IC and IE) are easier to get a smile from. I have often been sitting on row 14 in Y+ just behind the C galley and listening to FA's complaining to each other about pax requests, working conditions and their managers. It really not something I enjoy listening to. Maybe is has to with seniority as there often seems to be a correlation between age/seniority and negative behavior.
There are of course many exceptions to be found but I would still insist on above pattern from my seat even though many others might disagree.
Now I'm a little confused
It's mentioned in the initial post that you were invisible to the FA's so it must have been a bother for you that you didn't get their attention :(
In your second post you said that you didn't want to interrupt them as they were clearly doing something else :(

Now rolling ones eyes is for sure rude when part of the job is to serve PAX coffee or whatever they may ask for with a SMILE no matter how bad or lousy their day has been ;)
One, amongst a list of others, why I don't fly SAS any more... Poor service, old tired planes, rude staff, Ryan Air service (do actually prefer Ryan tbh) and for me a useless network... I seriously don't understand why SAS even bothers :td:

I so agree with you...
Sounds like most offices these days when people gather around the water cooler :D
This said, it is very unprofessional (and again rude) by anyone to talk about other people when there is a very big chance that they are actually heard by other PAX...
